Higher Ed is going to have to reinvent itself after the MAGA dumbification period is over. Firing a TA because this student is completely inept and lazy is preposterous.

Van Jones lack of compassion was interesting. Because compassion is his entire brand. Why does it stop at Palestine?

I think I know the answer. Aside from how well they can spit, rappers have ALWAYS rapped about money, cars, clothes and women. But rappers used to clown each other for going "pop" and being in "the industry." When record executives became hip-hop artists and hip-hop artists became record executives, bragging about selling records and being a part of the BUSINESS of the industry was as important as money, jewelry, cars or even the ability to rap. Then, a guy came along who couldn't rap, produce music, write lyrics, dance or even talk about his street life. He became a huge star BECAUSE HE COULD SELL RECORDS. He wasn't the FIRST to do it but... If you listen closely, you'll see who was the biggest influence on the trend you're talking about. 1994: "I'm sitting in the club dreaming about Lear Jets and coupes, the way Salt shoops and how to sell records like Snoop." - Notorious BIG 1995: Used to bring work outta town on Greyhound, now I'm Billboard bound. - Lil Kim 1996: While you be kickin' that old shit, we makin' hits – Platinum and gold shit - Lil' Kim 1997: "Who's hot, who's not? Tell me who rock who sell out in the stores? You tell me who flopped?" - Ma$e 1998: All we hear is platinum that, platinum this Platinum whips, nobody got no platinum hits - 112 ft. Ma$e Then, in 2001 after every single one of those artists left their label, but BEFORE the quote you're talking about, that record executive released a song under his new name: "Check the hit list and how we twist shit. What changed but the name? We still here, you're rockin' with the best. Don't worry if I write rhymes; I write checks" - Diddy, "Bad Boy for Life That's who started it.

i asked this question a while ago and people pointed to graduation vs curtis as the inflection point. i think it's a phenomenon bigger than rap but with time to think on it, maybe this is it?
🐢✨America Is Musty✨🐢@DragonflyJonez

Yes rappers have always flexed their sales. And that’s understandable. That’s their job. This shift of fans being numbers obsessed is a new phenomenon. When Nas and Jay battled not a soul on the planet said “ok let’s compare Blueprint and Stillmatic 1st week sales to see who won”
