You can say what you like about things that have happened at Melbourne regionals but here’s some fun facts, from games I have seen and played at many OCE major events, I have seen more Japanese players lie to a translator in a judge call than Australian players have, (being 0)

@kawahitosi Good point, some so-called competitive players or pros should be respectful and stop being absolute cunts and this has nothing to do with nationality or language skills.

I’ve seen several discussions about Japanese players’ behavior at the Melbourne Regional. I wasn’t there myself, so I don’t know the full details of what happened. However, I believe it’s very important to respect the local culture and the players whenever we participate in tournaments abroad. I’ve competed in tournaments across more than eight countries, and every country had an amazing Pokémon community that welcomed me warmly. That’s exactly why I don’t want to see this community damaged. I want even more people to experience how wonderful this community can be.

I’m glad that Japanese TCG players and the culture in Japan is just to post free notes or just explain everything in videos/long text posts on Twitter with full deck pictures of cards spread out. The western need to commercialize everything is atrocious for people wanting to look at lists for inspiration.

I was playing against Seinosuke Shiokawa on my last round for win and in at Melbourne Regionals this weekend. We had a good game 1 and 2, but on the 3rd game I was trying to figure out going into my t4, I was trying to figure out how he had 3 energies on board (2 on Dragapult and 1 on drakloak) then sudenly the game was paused due to bystanders noticing there was a double attach from Shiokawa's side. The series of play is T1 Munkidori Dark attach Watchtower pass going first > T1 opening Raging Bolt Latias Cyrano TM Ogrepon Mega Kang WS Ogrepon attach to WS Ogrepon Sob > T2 he went Buddy Buddy Poffin 2 Dreepy into Lillies Determination into skull attach to Munkidori psychic mind bend my WS Ogrepon and move 20 damage from dori to TM Ogrepon > T2 from me was Teal dance + 2 eswitch + attach to kang to KO > T3 (this is where it gets fuzzy for me) by him was ultra ball (I dont exactly remember the 2 cards that was discarded read below) into kloak into Lillies Determination into 2nd kloak into a few more things into pass with skull in active > T3 by me is setup the board with more energies and everything then KO on duskskull > T4 he started off with Crispin attach Fire hold psychic then recons then somehow he gets 2 energies on pult and 1 energy on the Drakloak > my T4 started and I drew and I was asking him why was there an extra psychic on board then the game was paused Based on the translation given to me he claimed that he ultra ball away dark energy and crispin (my question is where did the 2nd dark even come into play, there was only 1 dark in discard) which then later changed it to u he played ultra ball crispin and lillie according to the translation given to me, then there was alot of back and forth till we got 15 mins time extension but entirely the judge rulled in his favour and we continued to play with no penalty given or anything given for this (do note there was alot of bystanders and they all saw this). After that, since we got a 15 minute time extension we played till overtime and the judge/translator who was watching the game after the back and forth did not take note of this and allowed a supposing tie to get from 5 minutes to time is called to give us an extra 10 minutes instead, at this point the head judge came over AGAIN and then AGAIN gave no warning/penalty or anything before telling Shiokawa that he was turn 0 and we just start from there, which should not be how it works, this lead me to end up with a loss instead of a tie, do note AGAIN the judge was watching and no action was taken by the judge or anything. I believe the double attach should have been investigated much deeper and they cannot just allow stuff like this like letting players hide behind a language barrier with translators telling me stuff like Shiokawa said "I don't remember" into him explaining step by step how he did everything and the judging being so lax and letting people get away with a double attach. Personally, I hate to say it but I've completely lost all respect to all CL champions and MOST Japanese players due to my experiences with Keito Arai and now Seinosuke Shiokawa not to add the other drama that happened. There are still some really good Japanese players out there who play honestly and very well but those are the exception. Another thing I hate even more is the judging staff who did not properly investigate this issue before allowing play to continue and allowing this to happen and allowing 2 mistakes (double attach and timming rules) to happen in the SAME game. I've had many bad experiences with judged before but this is by far the worst I've had so far. Sorry for the wall of text but just wanted to get this out there.
