Getting this shit out of first gear

You can tell New Vegas was made by aging Gen X guys because the "cool villain" wears a sleeveless leather duster and has dreadlocks. He looks like he's in a 1999 Nine Inch Nails video.

I feel like Jim Lee has missed the mark here. The biggest reason Manga is overtaking American comics? Consistency and continuity. Manga offers one singular creative vision. You buy into the creator's vision for the journey. A lot of manga and anime have one solid creator/creative team on them that helps keep a consistent vision of the story. American comics rotate teams so often that entire story arcs get undone simply because the new writer either prefers the old status quo or hates it so much that they completely uproot what fans valued about the character. American superhero comics are also especially hard for new readers to get into. If I wanted to read through One Piece or Dragon Ball, it's easy to know where to start: Just start with the first book. If I wanted to start reading Superman, do I start with the original Action comics run? Do I start with post-crisis Superman? What about New 52 or Rebirth? American superhero comics are entirely unfriendly to new readers.

When we read Catcher in the Rye for school, everyone else in class hated Holden. Our teacher said, "He's struggling to bear the transition between childhood and adulthood; that's something everyone goes through." There was a painful silence... (thread)

Jesus and all of the Bible are specific about salvation. Christians aren’t (for the most part) being unreasonable to pass on the specifics. If I wanted to convert to Islam but I said I wanted to do it just by eating raw pork, a Muslim wouldn’t be honest in saying I did it right. Being a celeb on Twitter where over half of your audience are Christians would invite a dogpile of well meaning believers. That’s a social media problem, not a problem of the Faith.
