Thank you for your tolerance. I know how tedious it can be to hear someone's dream, but this one really shook me. 3/3

I panicked because I didn't know the lyrics...as if anyone's ever deciphered a Seefeel lyric. Plus, why would they want anyone to sing besides Sarah Peacock, I thought. She's absolutely perfect for the music. The pressure was unbearable and I forced myself to wake up. 2/3

Had a dream in which I joined Seefeel as a vocalist; note: I can't sing. The gig was in a prison...of course. Ideal scenario for a Seefeel show. We—5 members, for some reason—were behind a bullet-proof glass enclosure. The inmates were rowdy. 1/3

As a mere freelance music journalist, I'm flabbergasted, flummoxed, and floored by the sheer amount of emails I get. I can only imagine how many editors at Pitchfork, NPR, MOJO, The Wire, etc, receive. Sifting through hundreds daily, I have built up so much empathy for Sisyphus.

If you only know Daniel Fichelscher from his work in Popol Vuh, Amon Düül II, and Gila, you may be surprised to hear him slap the econgas on Niagara's absolute library-funk monster LP S.U.B. youtube.com/watch?v=1jKNUq…

It's not enough for Booker Stardrum to have the coolest name in independent music—he also cut one of the best albums of 2026 so far and plays with SML, one of the greatest American bands. bookerstardrum.bandcamp.com/album/close-up…

The other day in a record store, I had the good fortune to hear the clerk play Hoelderlin's “Phasing,” a fantastic, under-the-radar krautrock flight of fancy from 1976. (It takes a while to get going, but when it does...) youtube.com/watch?v=oRUL9t…

@fritolaysia Note: The first few minutes are a Sakamoto piece from the previous show and not part of Jazz Theater.

Since my old pal is working on a visual book about Speak In Tongues (DIY Cleveland show space from 1994-2001), I’ll probably be SIT posting here and there. Already a lot of memories unearthed.

Unholy Grail alert: I finally gripped Sly's least-loved album, the one with the very odd cover of the Kinks' "You Really Got Me."

I'm joining Jazz Theater host Noel Brass Jr. on the air at KEXP for a 1am-3am shift May 11. Tune in or listen to the archive over the next 2 weeks @ kexp.org.

@DanMackta Not trying to pick on Qobuz, but it is my main streaming platform and it has dozens of other Coleman titles. I'm assuming it's probably a licensing nightmare to get Body Meta.

In the grand scheme of things this is minor, but Ornette Coleman's Body Meta not being on Qobuz is a scandal.
