We are wishing every dad a happy Father's Day today. Our thoughts are with the dads who may be waiting anxiously beside an incubator in neonatal care. And thinking of the fathers who have lost children born too soon and those who still experience the trauma of a premature birth.

Does your company have a Charity of the Year or other charitable giving scheme? We'd love them to consider The Smallest Things if they do! We're a tiny charity with huge plans - but we need your support to reach our goals. thesmallestthings.org

Thanks to the formidable @catriona_ogilvy for speaking on behalf of all us NICU parents today at the @HLPretermBirth inquiry. It’s 12 years on for me yet could be yesterday. Neonatal families deserve more support. @_SmallestThings 💜

Heading home after giving evidence to the @HLPretermBirth inquiry. So important that we understand the long term impact that preterm birth has on families and children, and grateful to speak on behalf of @_SmallestThings and to be a voice for neonatal parents. 💜

Yet again, the UK government has failed to prioritise mental health. And broken its promise to thousands of people. With the mental health bill not included in the #KingsSpeech, it’s now highly unlikely the Mental Health Act will be reformed before the next general election. 1/7
Mind@MindCharity

Today is the #KingsSpeech – the UK gov uses this speech to highlight its priorities for the next year. We’ve been urging @rishisunak to include the mental health bill - which would see reforms to the outdated Mental Health Act. We’ll be watching at 11am to see whether it is 👀

“There’ll be a dad in a hospital today just about to start the experience we’ve gone through.” This World Prematurity Month grab a coffee and take time to listen to the experiences of NICU Dads, recorded from our 2021 World Prematurity Day Festival. 📹 thesmallestthings.org/world-prematur…

Roughly 60,000 families will benefit every year from the new entitlements, because no mum or dad should have to worry about work or pay while their tiny baby is in intensive care. 12 years since this one came along and I’ve been making up for ‘stolen’ time in NICU ever since.

A huge thank you to @Stuart_McDonald MP and all who supported the Bill, giving mums and dads the time they need to be with their baby & to recover following the trauma of neonatal intensive care without the worry of additional financial pressures and returning to work too soon.

Tears of joy (and exhaustion!) today 🥳😂 8 years of campaigning with @catriona_ogilvy and @_SmallestThings. 8 years. And 11 since I was forced to resign when my employer said no to extending my leave. My twins spent 3 and 6 months in NICU. For Eva 💖

WE DID IT!! 🎉 An historic moment for neonatal families! Having led the campaign, putting the parent voice at the heart of everything we do, we are thrilled that the Neonatal Care (Leave and Pay) Bill has received Royal Assent!
