Het bedrijf dat dit patent bezit, staat nu voor de rechter om royalty’s te eisen. Dit is geen complottheorie. Dit komt uit Bayers eigen documenten, ingediend door hun eigen advocaten en openbaar geregistreerd. Zij stellen letterlijk in de federale rechtbank dat hun landbouwtechnologie voor genetische modificatie is gekopieerd en zonder licentie in mensen is toegepast. Ondertussen heeft Moderna onlangs 2,25 miljard dollar betaald aan Roivant om een aparte mRNA-patentzaak te schikken. BioNTech klaagt Moderna aan. GSK klaagt Moderna aan. Iedereen klaagt elkaar aan. Alleen al de patentgeschillen zullen deze bedrijven tientallen miljarden dollars kosten. Als Bayer gelijk heeft, betekent dit dat elke “veiligheidsstudie” die in 2020 onder tijdsdruk is uitgevoerd, mogelijk naar het verkeerde heeft gekeken. Men testte een vaccin, maar niet een landbouw-gebaseerd genmodificatieplatform dat voor het eerst in mensen werd toegepast.
