Ed Klekowski, World War One enthusiast

The hunt for the Crown Prince's oak. In the woods far behind the German lines back of Verdun. After much effort we found it, (Eiche is oak). And nearby a surprise -- a German camp, from 1917.

Remains of a battle. American troops fought their way through this German artillery site. It is littered with 75mm shrapnel shells, wine bottles and other rubbish.

These gates are modeled on the gates of the Chateau de Robecourt in Grécourt, France, where the Smith College Relief Unit (SCRU) served during World War I.
