The heat here in London today is very very uncomfortable. Thinking of buying an air con unit.

@RogersHistory Learn to say no to additional workload. Bit tricky when one is a new member of staff and new to the profession and will be eager to participate and fit in to earn respect etc. but learn to say no when you can.

@edmunds_dr 5 years ago I wanted to be a headteacher 3 years ago I thought, "just" assistant headteacher Now I don't think I'll ever look back. In my view, it's not worth it. But I can only speak for my own experience. Wishing you and your family all the very best for Easter. 😊

I’ve always been an ambitious person but @DJGteaching’s tweets have been living in my head rent free. Being a HoD probably doubles my workload. Especially now I have a daughter, I can really see the attraction of not having additional responsibility.

@mrlockyer Put aside a delayed start time. Get fully energised for it and mentally prepare for the marathon. Remove distractions, set up marking area and go for it.

When teaching certain topics I’m utterly passionate about, I end up a much worse teacher cos I just want to talk about the topic endlessly lol. Case in point - today - Dunkirk.

@MrMillinchip @LauraLolder @MrsCKEnglish We did have Whole class feedback. But that too has been scrapped. We only mark assessments and provide feedback on them. That’s it.

@educators_hub @LauraLolder @MrsCKEnglish I totally agree with this, but in practice, how do you guarantee that feedback to students has happened I.e. do you have whole class feedback, time for discussion in class etc...

If English teachers spoke honestly about markload, I reckon no-one would apply to teach the subject ever again.

@LauraLolder @MrsCKEnglish Agree, it is two subjects and as a core subject there are additional pressures being put on you compared to non core subjects.

@educators_hub @MrsCKEnglish Oh we don’t mark books or homework at all! This is mock marking which at GCSE, with two subjects and multiple essays, is a killer for English teachers. No getting away from it
