I am also a heavy user of AI tools, but: I still need to do lots of work manually because models can’t implement complex architectures or logic. You need to invest your time, work, and creativity. Every time I hear “it one-shot me a product, app, etc.,” it leaves me wondering: is it that their project is simple, or is it my skills issue?

The only thing that matters in consumer software is velocity of shipping. You will regularly be wrong about what people want: no one is a perfect psychologist. But if you are out at the frontlines with concepts everyday, your team will have their finger on the pulse of users and know where to add fuel.

Sorry but "AI Engineer" is an anti-signal now. You can be a Research Engineer. An AI Researcher. An ML Engineer. A Research Scientist. A Member of Technical Staff. A Member of Engineering. All of these are respectable (and tbf mostly synonymous) titles. But if you're an AI Engineer, I assume you're a frontend developer with a superiority complex.
