ERCOT has extended its conservation request by an hour: "As extreme hot weather continues driving record power demand across Texas, the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) is issuing a Conservation Appeal for Wednesday, July 13 between 2-9 p.m."

The Electric Reliability Council of Texas said consumers made a difference on Monday. "On that day, Texans and businesses responded by voluntarily conserving electricity and helping ERCOT successfully meet record power demand by reducing their energy use by 500 MWs."

It's back: Texas' main grid operator is again requesting conservation from 2-8 p.m. ERCOT in a news release: "Today’s conditions are expected to be similar to those experienced on Monday, July 11, 2022."

ERCOT's news release cites both high demand tied to a heat wave, as well as low wind output expected during a tight period in the afternoon. Here's the full release: ercot.com/news/release?i…

The news release from Texas' main grid operator also adds this important note: "ERCOT also issued a Watch for a projected reserve capacity shortage from 2-8 p.m. At this time, no system-wide outages are expected."

Monday is going to be another hot one in #Texas. And here's a conservation request from ERCOT, the state's main grid operator: ERCOT says it's "asking Texans and Texas businesses to voluntarily conserve electricity, Monday, July 11 between 2-8 p.m."
