All women need to learn to advocate for themselves whether it’s fair or not. Idc if it’s regarding medical procedures or other annoying necessities. Im not saying it will always work but damn you guys need to at least fucking TRY. Life is hard, sorry.

This pap smear discourse is doing the same thing as recent "birth control is evil" discourse and taking a good conversation (why is pain normalized in gynecological procedures?) and taking it to the extreme (they're always painful and I'll never do it). A great alternative here:

You can request plastic if your gyno isn’t already using that already. Communicate with them. They can also add more lubricant! I’m so sick of seeing people act like that’s not an option or that every Pap smear is torture. Just scaring women away from vital medical procedures.
