And for anyone who's been seeing the feminist wars on here lately, this book was really helpful to me in sorting out my opinions and exposing me to a variety of arguments on sex and feminism when I was first learning. It's old, but it gets the pre-2000s stuff well.

For the record, I'm not a Dworkinist but I think it's crucial to understand her work as part of understanding feminist theory! And it's ok to agree with parts of someone's work and not all of it. I'm seeing way too many people take a black and white approach when learning.

It's not her opinion of women, but it is her opinion of how society treats women so it's still valid to offer critiques. We need to separate the treatment of an object of a theory from the theorist's personal view but we also shouldn't act like the theorist is removed completely.
Shambo of Luxembourg@BradfemlyWalsh

For the other cretins out there unable to comprehend how theory works: this is a quote from the book P0rnography by Andrea Dworkin, groundbreaking radical feminist and it is describing how patriarchy views pregnant women. It is not a personal opinion, for the love of god.

Thanks to @wusa9 for actually talking TO the youth and not AT or ABOUT. Again, your generalizations harm kids like these who are just looking for a safe space to express themselves and find joy in life. We can hold space for accountability without defaulting to prejudice.

I just celebrated my 30th with bigger than normal festivities and it was so meaningful to bring together people from different periods and parts of my life. Wanting to celebrate your life is not inherently selfish! It's also about the people who've gotten you where you are!

@poisonjr This is beautiful, if you don't mind sharing, is it based on real life experiences from living on a military base?

I hate (love) DC because what do you mean a congressional reporter participated in the Ilya lookalike contest
Shay (Heated Rivalry ate my brain!)@Hollanovhug

@joshsorbe Not doubting your friend at all but I'm a little dubious these guys were serious but if legit, it's the best meet/cute ever. Also, was the Axios Congressional reporter participating or reporting on the contest? That's a bit outside their usual beat. LOL.

Also I realized I have seen the movie based on the Christian romance his mom read and it was so bleak, it was not erotic at all. Mostly sexual trauma NOT steamy romance. And the cast absolutely flooded me like what we're all these people thinking

This is so funny like why is Fleischmann is in Trouble one of two examples of erotic literature?? "They're going straight to the source" "The books are designed to capture women's interest and fantasy" 😭😭😭
