@eewspeedy Yes, it's not halted. It just can't trade below that price.
Buyers can still take offers at the limit price, and prices can rise again.
In no way are they paused in the sense of a trading halt where no business is conducted.

Here’s how I see tonight playing out for S&P futures: I think they’ll rip it back up overnight and avoid a limit down scenario (which would pause trading until the open). We could easily close the gap back to ~5,580 or higher.

If E-mini futures (ES) drop 5% from the prior day’s close outside of regular trading hours they hit “Limit Down”.
Trading is not fully halted, but futures cannot trade below that 5% limit.
trading can continue at/above that level, but no orders can be placed below

From there, I expect them to sell it back down near tonight’s lows by the open, drill the open, and potentially hit limit down intraday. That could be the flush where big money steps in and rips it higher.

JUST IN: The DTCC is changing the rules of what constitutes a market ‘disruption’. The new framework allows them to ‘anticipate’ when a disruption may come and to take preventive action.
For example: shutting off the buy button when stocks that their pals at Citadel have massive short positions against begin to squeeze.
This is just another power grab that allows the DTCC to do whatever they want at the expense of the retail investor.

Book depth has evaporated.
If $NVDA & $AAPL get taken down in tandem, it could be absolutely devastating.

$SPX ST/IT/LT “TIMER” Bull/Bear Line broke by 4 points. I must get defensive despite crazy whacked out sentiment. Rules are rules… Looking for rally up into 5,900-5,800. Only thing that changes my mind is massive breadth. Otherwise I’m unloading my bags with the big boys up to 5,800+. I’ll report more as I know more. We could still stab the Bull/Bear Line lower one more time here this week,… but I’m not looking to substantially go through it now. Nominal as drawn. 1-2% max. And we could very well be done going down for now. Still have 1/4 $SDS on while I read this…

From a positioning standpoint I’m at 50%+ cash, 50% long (high conviction names that have already gotten smoked) along with a few small put plays & VIX calls (1-3 DTE) in case we get the mega flush tomorrow.
I’d love to see the 🩸🩸🩸, but likely won’t be that easy.
