Wrote down some thoughts around the motivation behind "client-side" platforms (like AWS Copilot), design challenges, and my favorite software slogans for helping me build such a system: efekarakus.com/2022/01/29/cli…

A basic "How @awscloud Copilot CLI deployment to App Runner works" with a ton of oversimplification (and maybe mistakes? ) What other diagrams would you want to see? #reInvent

@jesperfj For App Runner vs ECS on Fargate? This article by @nathankpeck can help! nathanpeck.com/concurrency-co… If the app is a web service, App Runner can be more cost effective depending on the traffic pattern. ECS/Fargate has more configurable options but there is also more to manage.

I tried to use AWS Fargate. Instructions led me to ECS or EKS. I picked ECS. It led me to deploy something with copilot CLI. It all worked. My bill now says that I am using App Runner. While deployment succeeded, I have zero confidence that I know what I am actually using.

I meet loads of startups looking to quickly get started with ECS & Fargate. The best place to start is Copilot CLI: aws.github.io/copilot-cli/ With this you can build, deploy & operate containers on AWS and build fairly complicated architectures too.
