The proposal that criminal legal aid lawyers should be paid an arbitrary fixed fee for every case, regardless of work to be done, is illogical and unfair. Reminiscent of TV show 'Deal or No Deal'. Do you do the work, i.e. take what's in the box? lawsociety.ie/gazette/top-st…

@JMPSimor From a securities law practitioner and author perspective, it's an excess of regulation that is stymying IPOs in both UK & EU. Instead of uber-costly unreadable prospectuses with >400+ pages, allow companies tell their story with actual , not fanciful, risks in 20 pages or less.

Serious message from @TiceRichard at Bloomberg about the dire state of the financial sector. No growth; chronic debt. We used to have 100 IPOs a year in London. This year so far: 13. We need less & better regulation in the City; growth capital for entrepreneurs & SMEs; properly funded pensions; a far simpler tax code. @reformparty_uk is working on these priorities.
