Realistic secondary motion automatically breathes life into rig animations... but it's super slow to compute 🐌🐢😩 Our recent work, which will be presented at #SIGGRAPH2023, proposes a subspace based on linear blend skinning to accelerate simulation!

The hill I will die on: STEM grad programs MUST teach PhD students how to communicate their science to the public and legislators alike. This is 💯 not a drill.

Congratulations to Ellen Rumley on successfully defending her Ph.D.! 🎓🥳 Ellen made a memorable impression as the first graduate from our Robotic Materials Department, dressed in impressive armor reminiscent of Minerva, the Roman goddess of wisdom and symbol of @maxplanckpress!

Most Torontoians are multimodal - using transit, cycling, Uber, walking or driving - as the circumstance allows. The Province is spending billions to accelerate regional sprawl - knowing full well that those cars end up clogging city streets. In addition - they are enveloped in a billion dollar transit boondoggle with an entire LRT system built, mostly in a tunnel below ground, sitting empty and unused. Blaming cyclists for congestion is flat-earther type public policy. Disconnected from reality.

There has been significant recent interest in methods that use random walks to solve PDEs. In a project to be presented at SIGGRAPH Asia (w/Ekrem Yılmazer and @DelioVicini), we investigated how to solve *inverse PDE* problems by differentiating such solvers.

As the author of this PDF, it's been interesting seeing people guess at the rationale behind its design. However, the rationale had nothing to do with theory vs practice, and everything to do with pragmatically coping with an unaccommodated disability in academia. (1/16)

Compilers was was known to be the hardest CS class at Cornell which was hard as it is. We were handed a 8-page PDF at the start of sem for a language spec we'd be implementing by the end of sem, split into 6 parts. On part 5, the median was a 0/100 and most the class failed.

had a couple of people asked me about how I did Sammi's face, so want to show her face rig I made. I first modeled out her eye and made shapekeys for each expression, then linked them all to drivers and made a little control panel for it.
