@NashSevereWx Can you remind me where the safest part of a hotel is should tornados develop? We are staying in a hotel locally tonight.

I know many of you are anxious. I get it. I've lived in Nashville for about 40 years, and I remember several May nights we spent in the basement. We've been through this before. It's nothing new or something we don't have experience with. Be prepared. Let's do what we do, and we'll get through it. Rest of the week looks a.w.e.s.o.m.e.

@NashSevereWx Agree with letting the kids prepare. Also agree with helmets. Besides the safety angle, it can really help kids that have storm anxiety know that they are doing something tangible to help keep themselves safe. We have seen this with our daughter for sure.

Note the helmets. Excellent parenting. ER doctors see a lot of head trauma in tornado events. Helmets reduce risk, and can be the safety decision that makes the difference. Not under a warning rn, but normalizing helmets in tornado shelters is 12 out of 10 parenting.

It was really cool to see @tonykemp get his first at-bat in #birdland today. I was throwing up my VU from Section 55 and cheering for him. A few more feet, and his first appearance would have been a homer. #orioles #vandyboys

@NashSevereWx Oh wow. Yes! We we live near the football field, so that must be what I heard. Yikes it sounds a lot like the tornado siren. 😳

@egtaylor34 Did some checking. The sound you heard was a new lightning detection system that is now installed at the high school athletic fields. Assuming you live close to the football field?

@NashSevereWx The tornado warning siren went off here in Nolensville 2-3 minutes ago. Continued for a minute or so but don’t hear it now. Was it a mistake?

@NashSevereWx @NashSevereWx At what point will it be possible to predict when the precipitation will start? Hubs and son are leaving a weekend birthday trip early (sometime Sunday) to stay safe but not sure what time they should get back to avoid the bad road conditions.

Snow Update in the NWS afternoon forecast. More in the blog this evening. “…high confidence in snow with potential for enhanced bands of snow setting up, giving locally greater totals, perhaps 5 or 6 inches in some spots. It is hard to know exactly where the bands will develop, but even the generalized totals of 3 to 5 inches will cause significant travel impacts. Also, with such cold air in place, the snow will stick right away and it will stick around as temps stay sub-freezing until Thursday.”
