Same problem in South Korea, same problem in Japan. Boomers in America are pretty bad, but the way young people are crushed by expectations and put-upon with social discipline in East Asian countries is truly phenomenal. It’s been generationally compounding and finally snapped.
Daniel@growing_daniel

I met a Chinese woman who said she doesn’t want to have kids in China because being a kid in China is torture. She doesn’t want to put her kids through what she went through. And she said many young Chinese think the same.

@allenf32 @gladstein Savings before loans? Loans are how we create most of the real assets/savings in our world. In ancient Mesopotamia you borrowed some seeds in exchange for the promise to return more seeds. Today we borrow $ to build homes, biz, etc.

Q: Why do people love the "Dollar is dying story"? Ignoring the fact that it's mostly nonsense - an actual collapse in the USD would involve an incredibly traumatic global depression.

@eiaine Well, if we could convince potential buyers that these are special oracular chickens maybe they'd sell at a higher price. Say they're usable to time the market.

I put all my chickens on craigslist a month ago thinking i could exploit the egg shortage, but nope -- no one wants "Inflation chickens". More likely, the chick demand is driven by dummies like me who think they can snap up chicks and flip them for profit nytimes.com/2023/02/02/bus…

@pm hm yeah, not really city vs rural so much as left vs right. i've met plenty of new yorkers who have no problem saying those things about, eg, staten island.

@eiaine "Basket of deplorables" seems like a iconic moment to me city/left types have those attitudes but "wrong" to say them. i think 'racist' and 'nazi' are a different situation, it isn't city vs rural

Help settle a debate. Has there ever been an example of a series A or later (i.e. not seed/early) startup doing a significant pivot and actually succeeding?
