I imagine many women who aren’t yet pregnant see the crazy MIL on here call women selfish for wanting time with their baby and don’t want to see a bunch of people after many hrs of labor then pushing while laying in hospital bed with a diaper on, scared to poop + trying to learn how to breast feed with their tits out after not getting any sleep as a reason to not want any part of that. A woman sees how the modern day in laws only care about seeing the baby or who gets to see the baby first instead of the actual mom feels or her healing process and think how much of a nightmare that sounds like.
American gal@jenanamericngal

I’m way too pregnant for this discourse, but seriously how are we complaining about birth rates while simultaneously telling women to just suck it up & let people walk all over them after birth? Postpartum is not about anyone but mom & baby. I say this as someone who is 🧵

@pcosprincess22 It wasn't fun living with her, but I don't think my husband put me in an uncomfortable situation. It was my duty as a daughter-in-law to care for my MIL. She wasn't a nice person, but she was my husband's mom and we were her best option. I don't regret having her live with us.

@avygal That wasn’t the point of this post. But yes, if you invite your mom in you most definitely should be inviting your mother-in-law in.

@EyeElsie I disagree about the laboring mother being the only person to decide. I think that the father has equal decision in this and if the mom‘s family is in there than the dad‘s family should be invited also.

Good post. And i agree. So many young women are control freaks that don’t understand how to create a relationship with other people. It’s one of the main things i taught my own daughter. My mother in law and father in law watched all my babies be born except my emergency c-section. My dad and father in Law stayed up by my head and held my hands while my husband and all the women and sisters got to see the birth action😂 a party of 15-20 in your birthing room is fun😂 And strict rules for visiting in the first few months of life is even weirder. That truly is just a controlling narcissistic trait. I don’t really understand people that like their privacy or have rules for every event in their life. Chill out and relax. Enjoy your family both sides.

Ladies. I am telling you this right now. Your husband’s family matters when you have a baby. You can say they aren’t allowed in for delivery. You can ask for limited time visits. You can ask for your husband to entertain and introduce the baby if you want to stay in bed. BUT- asking his parents/grandparents to wait to meet them while you let your family in is cruel and selfish. EVEN IF they might annoy you, or his mom is an attention hog, your baby is just as much your husband’s. Your recovery needs matter, but alienating them is wrong.

The UK voted the Tories out of office with a vengeance after more than a decade of mismanagement, corruption and scandals, so naturally the UK then opts to vote them all back into power again, under a different name, alongside the architect of the UKs decline via Brexit. FFS.

@IrishTimesEdu_ @IrishTimes I was told it’s unrealistic in a busy school to expect you child not to have a least two free classes a day I stuck in the 2000s when a free class was rare in my school it’s a hard job but so is all jobs

@sophielouisecc That is a parent's job. Teacher do not have the time nor the energy to discipline kids for something that can be solved by just not having them in the first place.

Genuine question. How can the EU not fully cut off Israel and sanction them now? They've brought in a law that is without precedent and is indefensible. A cruel, barbaric racist law to murder one ethnic group. Surely this IS the red line?

We’re being told that cuts to excise duty, 20c on diesel and 15c on petrol, won’t show up at the pumps for days. Days. Yet every single time taxes go up at budget time, prices jump at the pumps immediately. So which is it? Are prices driven by existing stock and supply chains… or can they be changed instantly when it suits? This “too little, too late” approach from government was already underwhelming. Now we’re hearing that even these modest reductions won’t reach consumers immediately. Meanwhile, households and businesses continue to carry the full burden. People aren’t naive. When prices rise immediately but fall slowly, it raises serious questions about who is really benefiting, and whether anyone is being held accountable. If relief is announced, it should be felt. Not delayed.
