thedailystar.net/sports/cricket… The overall mood surrounding the second day of the second Test between Bangladesh and Pakistan felt perfectly suited to lovers of the game’s longest format -- those who prefer to experience cricket slowly, thoughtfully, and without haste.

Blending speed with skill, Nahid represents a rare commodity in Bangladesh cricket. But even the most gifted talent can lose its edge if overused. The real challenge lies in managing him carefully and deploying him at the right moments. thedailystar.net/sports/cricket…

Abducted, bound, brutally beaten, stabbed, and ultimately murdered - Another #AwamiLeague activist killed in #Bangladesh amid rising political #violence under the #TariqueRahman-led #BNP Govt. The victim, Alal Sheikh, a former joint secretary of Bogura City Jubo League (Awami League’s youth wing), was reportedly abducted in broad daylight on April 2, 2026, from a crowded marketplace in Bogura. Witnesses say he was taken in front of hundreds of people by associates of a local Jubo Dal (BNP’s youth wing) leader. He was then allegedly transported to a remote wood, where he was tied up, covered with a jute sack, and subjected to extreme violence, including repeated stabbing, severe beatings, slashing of tendons, and broken bones - before being left for dead. Alal succumbed to his injuries the following day while receiving treatment at a hospital in #Dhaka. According to his family, the motive behind the killing was his decision to contest a local market association election against Shafiqul Islam, the Labour Affairs Secretary of Jubo Dal in Bogura City. This marks the third reported killing of an individual affiliated with the Awami League since the formation of the new BNP-led Govt under Prime Minister #TariqueRahman. Sources:

The speech that birthed a nation.
Sajeeb Wazed@sajeebwazed

The struggle of the Bengali nation - and of the people of all of Bangladesh that began in 1971 has not yet truly ended. We achieved our map, our sovereign territory, but we have yet to secure full economic freedom. The journey toward that freedom was begun by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman - who started building the nation after independence. Following his path, his daughter Sheikh Hasina led the country toward becoming a middle-income developing state. But today Bangladesh faces a crisis marked by hunger and poverty. Freedom of expression is under strain, and political rights remain deeply contested. On this historic and fiery day of 7 March Speech of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, let us renew our pledge: to build Bangladesh, to free its people from hunger and poverty, and to restore the democratic rights of its citizens. Joy Bangla. Joy Bangabandhu. #Banabandhu #7March #March1971 #Bangladesh #JoyBangla
