Xaverian High soph. G Connor Larnard (Scituate) talks about his 15-point night in a 55-51 win over BC High. Larnard has 5 brothers who attended BC High, including track/XC stars Chris and Shamus, who were nat’l champs in the 4xmile relay in 2024. @sports_ledger @Xaverian_Hawks

"Just as great athletes seek out great coaches, the best people want to work for leaders who coach them to reach their full potential..." Couldn't agree more with this perspective from @HarvardBiz. Have you adopted a #coaching mindset in your leadership? hbr.org/2022/10/succes…

If you notice your team seeming less engaged, take a step back and see how you can better support them rather than simply placing blame on a "lack of motivation" or drive. As a #leader, the solution starts with you ⬇️
Kate Roeske-Zummer@KateRZummer

Productivity is about people. Enough with efficiency, there is nothing more to squeeze out of folks, and the data proves it. You and your team contribute to the workplace culture. If things are not quite right, you are part of the solution.

@AdamMGrant When we have the headspace to fully build on our own ideas, we often come up with better solutions. Then when we came come together we can "dump the clay on the table" and mold together! Thanks for sharing, Adam!

When groups meet to brainstorm, good ideas are lost. People bite their tongues due to conformity pressure, noise, and ego threat. A better approach is brainwriting: generate ideas separately, then meet to assess and refine. Group wisdom begins with individual creativity.

@AmyCEdmondson Such an important conversation as we discuss empathetic leadership and being vulnerable leaders. Empathy for those you're leading is the anchoring tenet ... it's about the teammate, not the leader. Sometimes that gets turned around a bit.

@mwbuckingham Agreed, Marcus! Many times frustration and anger come from simple miscommunications. Being clear and direct with your language is so important to leading high performing teams.

Clarity is the antidote to anxiety, and therefore clarity is the preoccupation of the effective leader. If you do nothing else as a leader, be clear.

Solid points in this piece from @HarvardBiz on innovating during a downturn. Completely agree with @ScottDAnthony that while it might be intimidating, this time offers a unique opportunity to think outside the box and make "bold strategic moves." hbr.org/2022/07/3-ways…

It's true— many times, progress is more important than perfection. So how can we keep ourselves from falling into this trap? @HarvardBiz recommends "designing the right goals and recognizing failure as part of the process." #leadership hbr.org/2022/09/the-co…

@thesamparr That's why utilizing your "productive" moments is so important. I can't list the amount of time I've probably wasted working on a project when I wasn't in the right headspace. Thanks, Sam.

The amount of time spent on something often does NOT correlate to success. People think they have to spend loads of time on X in order for it to be a success. Not true. A big unlock for success is knowing how to quickly do work that gets big results.
