Buttigieg on Indiana Republicans: "To be clear, they didn't stop being Republicans. This is a conservative state. These are conservative legislators. But they figured out that the right thing to do and the smart thing to do was to say no to the White House, no to Donald Trump, and not to JD Vance."

Despite President Trump's promise of cuts, the federal government has spent about $220 billion more in his first 100 days than the same time period last year. cbsn.ws/3Gv7A3E

Harvard has set an example for other higher-ed institutions – rejecting an unlawful and ham-handed attempt to stifle academic freedom, while taking concrete steps to make sure all students at Harvard can benefit from an environment of intellectual inquiry, rigorous debate and mutual respect. Let’s hope other institutions follow suit.

@ZelenskyyUa @POTUS You are the hero of the world, @ZelenskyyUa. You have thanked Americans over and over. The way you were treated by those two today was not deserved. Trump and Vance do not speak for the majority of Americans.

when you see hip pockets flare out like this, the pants are too tight. likely cause is not having enough material from side seam to the fly. when pants are this tight, they can split when you bend over or squat. dangerous for national security.

This is exactly what I’ve been telling everyone and they’re finally starting to believe me. The most important election wasn’t in 2024, it was in 2016. Once Trump got into office the floodgates opened and there was no going back. Trump was able to rig the Supreme Court, Federal and State legislatures in his favor, and has used that to his advantage ever since. He was able to take over the entire Republican Party who will do anything he wants. And now he has Elon Musk backing him with all the financial resources and Social media support he will ever need. Meanwhile the Democrats are playing nice by the old rules and losing every time. I have no doubt that Trump right now is asking foreign governments to provide fake information about his enemike like Liz Cheney so he can prosecute them, just like he did with Ukrainian President Zelenskyy against Biden in 2016. It’s time for the Democrats and Western Europe to steal a page from this hardball politics playbook and fight back before it’s too late.

I thought this would hurt more than 2016 but it doesn't. That was a shock. This is just confirmation. We now know that 2016 wasn't a fluke or an aberration, that this is what the majority wants: whiteness, patriarchy, nationalism, hatred, nihilism. Whether I want to spend the rest of my life in such a place is something my mind isn't prepared to consider. Right now, I just know that I'm seeing the nation with my eyes fully open and there is no mistaking what so many people I Ioved and once respected, actually value. As heartbreaking as that is, I now know where they stand, and I know it's nowhere I want to be.
