This tweet aged like fine wine. Cheers 🍷🍷
Just because the world cup is in the US doesn’t mean we need VC’s and Techies giving “predictions and opinions”. Stay in your lane please, more tech, less soccer opinions amigos.

@mattturck France will dispatch them. Argentina is so one-dimensional (and I really don't mean Messi, though that's part of it).

@mattturck Omg but this was not rigged???? What? No more conspiracy theories????? SHOCKER

Manolo!

Messi lost the 2007 Copa América final.
He lost the 2014 World Cup final.
He lost the 2015 Copa América final.
He lost the 2016 Copa América final.
Back then, nobody was calling him “FIFA’s favorite.” They mocked him, said he was finished with Argentina, that he only performed for Barcelona because of Xavi and Iniesta.
Then he won the 2021 Copa América, the 2022 World Cup, and the 2024 Copa América.
Suddenly he’s “FIFA’s favorite.”
The hypocrisy is obvious. Losing? He’s a failure. Winning? It’s because he’s protected. The goalposts never stop moving.

@mattturck The “rude awakening” has been coming for all games now. At some point it just becomes fan fiction.

@austinxwalker Truly, SF is awesome, give it a chance and don’t let the muggles get you 😁
I sent you a DM regarding something else you shared a while back btw, it’s probably buried somewhere in your inbox

inner peace = being genuinely happy for other people's wins.
and san francisco is wired to make sure you never feel it.
at first, you're enamored by being around ambitious people. you're no longer the smartest person in the room. how inspiring!
but the inspiration has a shelf life.
somewhere along the way, the voice in your head starts to ask "why not me?"
someone is always raising a larger round than you, with less traction than you.
or writing a worse tweet than you that gets 10x the reach.
slowly it stops being about what you're building. it becomes about where you rank.
you catch yourself reading someone's good news and feeling… nothing. or worse, a little resentment.
i see it in almost every founder i talk to here. nobody says it out loud, but you can feel it.
everyone's smiling and keeping score at the same time.
and the bar keeps getting higher. the second you reach a milestone, someone else has already passed it in half the time.
your inner voice turns "why not me?" into "what am i doing wrong?"
this is not normal. this is not how the rest of the world lives.
we're in a bubble. SF is an ambitious, brilliant, intoxicating bubble.
the same density that makes you more ambitious is also quietly destroying your inner peace.
the moments that bring you back are the ones with no scoreboard. a slow morning. a long drive. a conversation with someone who isn't trying to win anything.
treat those like a macronutrient. not a nice-to-have, something your life actually needs. you wouldn't skip protein for a month and expect to feel good.
get out of the city and recalibrate.
you'll be reminded that the game you're obsessing over is one most people aren't even playing.

“He was scheduled to die at 4 PM today but fate had other plans.
Today, November 6, 2025, I adopted an old dog who had been waiting in the shelter for over a year. He was on the euthanasia list; forgotten, unwanted, and marked to be put down this evening.
When I first saw him, he didn’t bark or wag his tail. He just sat quietly, as if he already knew his time was up. But when our eyes met, something inside me whispered, “Not today.”
I signed the papers and taking him home. And the moment we stepped outside, he lifted his head and wagged his tail for the first time. That tiny wag said everything; thank you for seeing me, thank you for saving me.
Tonight, instead of spending his last moments in a cold cage, he will be curled up on a warm bed, safe and loved.
Maybe I didn’t change the whole world today but for him, I changed his world.
He’s an old soul, gentle and wise. It would mean so much if you could suggest some “old” names for him in the comments.
Let’s give this boy the love and name he truly deserves.”
