Billions of people are currently surviving in temperatures between 45 and 50C. This is "only" at a 1.5C global increase. At 2C, these regions will become unbearable for long periods of the year. The lack of a coherent plan for this is shocking. #Mitigation is urgent.

Ég skil ekki afhverju ég eyddi yfir höfuð 5 árum í ógeðslega krefjandi vísindalegu námi þegar að það eru sjálfskipaðir sérfræðingar út um allt að “leiðrétta” mig eftir að hafa lesið nokkur blogg. Aðrar starfstéttir þurfa ekki að díla við þetta.

Extreme contrast. April 2024 will go down as one of the most incredible flips on record in Europe. Summer to winter for some. The warmth broke an enormous number of April records and the cold is now beating some late April records.

January 2024 was the warmest January on record. New data from @CopernicusECMWF shows that we've now had: - the eighth record breaking month in a row and - twelve months (Feb 23-Jan 24) with global temperatures more than 1.5ºC above the pre-industrial reference baseline.

We use 30 year averages to show climatology (average weather conditions). During the 20th century the UK climatology followed a path around a confined box. With #globalwarming and #climatechange they have escaped out the box. This #dataviz shows UK rainfall and temperature.

This is me and and my guest on my show both feeling suffocated for covering our hair and face only for a short time. WHY? Try it yourself to understand how it feels to be FORCED to wear hijab and burqa for decades. Recently, Taliban arrested Women of Afghanistan for the crime of wearing “bad hijab” at the same time Islamic Republic lashed women for the crime of removing their forced hijab. @DelbarTavakoli @VOAfarsi

Another month, another unprecedented climate record. The consequences are all too clear: floods, heatwaves, droughts & storms, all made worse our reliance on burning fossil fuels. Delaying actions to reduce emissions now will commit us all to experience worse future consequences.
