THIS IS WHY we need open research practices. There is no commercial incentive to maintain data sets for journals (who knew that digital preservation might be challenging and require expertise and investment?)

All the supplementary material of "The Sequence of the Human Genome" published in @ScienceMagazine in 2001 have vanished. Even the editor-in-chief, Holden Thorp, couldn't find them. I was once told that the data is the soul of scientific articles. Well, this one is soulless. 1/2
