Don’t know about anyone else but 20 years ago young people like me with anorexia were treated routinely with olanzapine (where I lived) 🤷🏼‍♂️

In the field of eating disorders, some professionals are pretty aggressively attacked for simply stating that agreed norms of medical ethics apply to patients with longstanding and severe eating disorders, too. This is SO telling. As is the silence of many other clinicians.

Clinicians have created pseudo-diagnoses such as “severe and enduring eating disorder” which bake intractability and illness progression into the nature and character of patients’ illness, and even their (our) personal character. 6/12

Completely overwhelmed and so so grateful to every single person who has supported the #dumpthescales campaign, and to all those who came today to join the march. It was such a powerful and emotional day and I have a lot of brain processing to do

As 2024 starts let us not forget those who have lost their lives to this ghastly illness, as 2024 starts let’s make a stand and fight back because no one with an eating disorder is untreatable! Watch this space for campaign plans and updates coming over the next few months!
