It is with profound sorrow that I extend my heartfelt condolences to the Kenya Ports Authority Chief Executive Officer, Captain William Ruto, following the tragic loss of his beloved daughter in a road accident. This devastating moment is beyond words, and my heart goes out to him and his entire family as they come to terms with such an irreplaceable loss. At the same time, I wish Captain Ruto and the other members of his family who were injured in the accident a swift full recovery and strength as they navigate this painful period. In 2012, IEBC conducted a fresh voter registration for all Kenyans, since it was the first time biometrics were used to register voters following the promulgation of the new constitution. It was during this mass voter registration that BVR kits were first used. In that case, EVERYONE who voted in 2013, 2017 and 2022 is definitely registered using biometrics. In this regard, IEBC chair Ethekon should avoid making statements intended to cause confusion, and instead clarify the following issue for us: ✅ Total number of verified voters nationally and per county ✅ The exact number of registered voters per county whose biometrics were not captured in 2012, and therefore have not had a chance to vote since 2013.
