What's broken the most about Juniper is the final realization that people will either give a shit about trans people or they won't. No amount of horror or insanity will make somebody "wake up." It is simply too hard for them.

I'm not ready to draw conclusions about the motivation for this crime, but this young person's murder is a horrific tragedy and the comments are filled with "hE WaS A mAn." Shame on all of you.

It is a tragedy in its own right that it often takes a horrific crime for people to realize that the price of unfettered and unhinged transphobia is paid for with the blood of trans people And if you can, make a donation to a local charity that is seeking to help young people like Juniper live their lives to the fullest potential.
