Godfred Akomaning, aka ‘Immortal Legend,’ a Level 400 Petroleum Engineering student at the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) and a national debate champion at the 2025 Ghana Universities Debate Championship, has died by suicide after ingesting weedicide. In a six-page memoir he left behind, Godfred explained that he had been struggling with serious mental health issues long before arriving at university. None of his friends were aware of his struggles, and his family offered no meaningful support. As a result, his condition steadily worsened until it finally overwhelmed him, leading to this tragic decision.
