To prevent further loss: First of all, change all your email / SM account passwords (asap!) If it was a Windows laptop and you had signed in with your Microsoft account, you could possibly try finding its location on account.microsoft.com/devices⁠ and once you do find it, remotely lock it. Apple provides a better Find My Device option if it was a MacBook. To assist the police, you can check your email and social login activity to see the IP address where it was last logged in from (hoping thieves were stupid enough to try accessing your accounts). Pass on that info to Police. Stay safe.
