To those who believe the journalists killed in Gaza were all Hamas operatives, Israel’s Meir Amit Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center stated that roughly 60% of the media workers and journalists killed in Gaza since October 2023 were linked to "terrorist organisations”. That indicates that 40% (well over a hundred) who were killed were just journalists, plain and simple. This figure alone (and it may be an underestimate) is something to be deeply concerned about.

@jamesphilips88 This is prejudiced and personally offensive. I’ve known two Palestinian journalists who were later killed by the IDF. Neither was a ‘terrorist’; both could be critical of Hamas and Hezbollah, and both had a genuine dedication to telling the truth.

Spanish PM Pedro Sánchez:
It’s important to remember that Article 2 of the association agreement between the European Union and Israel is about respecting international law and humanitarian law.
And clearly, neither in Lebanon, nor in the West Bank, nor in Gaza, is Israel respecting it.
And this must lead us to reflection and also to action.

Not exactly doing much to win Lebanese hearts & minds at the moment, are you Isaac? If you'd like one day to drive to Beirut, maybe stop ethnic cleansing 15% of the country and murdering in cold blood the country's journalists, doctors, ambulance drivers & children
יצחק הרצוג Isaac Herzog@Isaac_Herzog
My dream is to get into a car and drive straight to Beirut, visit that beautiful city, and befriend the good people of Lebanon. I shared this message of hope and peace with ambassadors, diplomats, military attachés, and faith leaders as we celebrated Israel’s 78th Independence Day at the President’s Residence today.

Slovenia to air films about Palestine instead of Eurovision song contest
These are countries with a moral compass. Showing humanity. Expressing solidarity with victims of genocide. These are shining examples - countries we should salute.

How very convenient. Free pass to the genocidal state now
For a country whose PM was a human rights lawyer, this is a total disgrace.

Israel’s murder of journalists continues. The details of what happened to Amal Khalil are horrific. The Red Cross tried to rescue her but were themselves fired on.
How is Israel allowed such total impunity? Why is the international press not in uproar?
Alex Crawford@AlexCrawfordSky
Civil Defence crews were finally able to access the site where Leb journalist Amal Khalil was trapped under rubble but only hours later. They retrieved her body. Her newspaper Al Akbar has put out a video tribute. Lebanon’s Minister of Information condemned the incident describing the targeting of journalists as a blatant violation of international humanitarian law and calling for international action.

How revolting. But how not surprising. The global community must treat Israel like it did apartheid South Africa. This is blatant. In your face. They don't even pretend otherwise. Its vile

Truth presents itself as a reality that precedes human beings. It challenges us and calls us out of ourselves. This is why truth can be sought with trust. Faith does not shut itself off from this search, but purifies it of self-sufficiency and opens it to a fullness towards which reason strives, even if it cannot fully embrace it. #ApostolicJourney #EquatorialGuinea vatican.va/content/leo-xi…

In a world wounded by arrogance, people hunger and thirst for justice. We must encourage those who believe in peace and dare to engage in “countercurrent” politics, which focus on the common good. What is urgently needed is the courage of new visions and an educational pact that gives young people space and trust. #ApostolicJourney #EquatorialGuinea vatican.va/content/leo-xi…

SHOCKING CLASH: Donald Trump CALLS POPE LEO XIV “AN INSULT TO JESUS” — THE POPE’S RESPONSE STUNS THE WORLD
Donald Trump believed he could score easy political points by calling Pope Leo XIV “an insult to Jesus,” after the spiritual leader once again spoke out in defense of peace, compassion, and human dignity. However, he was challenging a voice rooted not in politics, but in moral authority.
Standing before a solemn gathering at the Vatican, Pope Leo XIV did not respond with anger. Instead, he delivered a powerful and deeply moving message grounded in faith, responsibility, and truth.
“The President of the United States has said that I insult Jesus,” Pope Leo XIV began, his voice calm yet firm. “But let us reflect honestly — what truly insults the teachings of Christ?”
Then, with quiet intensity, he answered:
“You want to know what truly insults Jesus? It is when we turn away from those who suffer, when we close our hearts to the poor, and when we choose power over compassion while others cry out for mercy.”
He continued:
“You know what insults Jesus? It is forgetting the dignity of every human being, ignoring the pain of families in crisis, and refusing to hear the voices of the most vulnerable among us.”
His message then deepened, becoming not just a response, but a moral call that reached far beyond the moment:
“You know what insults Jesus? It is creating division where there should be unity, spreading fear where there should be hope, and turning away from justice when we have the responsibility to uphold it.”
This was not merely a political rebuttal — it was something far more profound. Pope Leo XIV, known for his humility and steadfast commitment to peace, transformed the confrontation into a reflection on conscience rather than conflict. Instead of escalating tensions, he elevated the conversation to a universal moral level.
“I do not claim to be perfect,” he admitted. “But I strive each day to walk the path of compassion — to serve, to listen, and to love as we are all called to do.”
Then came the line that resonated far beyond the walls of the Vatican:
“If we truly believe in a world shaped by peace and mercy… then why do we not work harder to bring that reality into our lives — here and now, for one another?”
That was his response. Not with anger. Not with division. But with conviction — and grace.
Trump sought to challenge him. Instead, Pope Leo XIV delivered a message now echoing across millions, reminding the world that true strength is found not in power alone, but in conscience, humility, and love.

God’s heart is torn apart by wars, violence, injustice and lies. But our Father’s heart is not with the wicked, the arrogant, or the proud. God’s heart is with the little ones and the humble, and with them He builds up His Kingdom of love and peace day by day. Wherever there is love and service, God is there. #ApostolicJourney #Algeria

The sea and the desert have been places of mutual enrichment among peoples and cultures for millennia. Woe to us if we turn them into graveyards where even hope dies! Let us free these tremendous reservoirs of history and the future from evil! Let us denounce and remove causes for despair, and let us oppose those who profit from the misfortune of others!
