It’s breathtaking how a journalist can look down his nose at the breakfast roll-atariat On money, a sparks makes an average €60k a year, a haulage driver €65k, a journalist €42k. All dictated by the market with the journalists’ inflated by Govt handouts If Fintan and the Irish times ceased trading tomorrow, few would notice. If sparks or haulage drivers stopped, the country would fall into chaos in weeks The truth is, Fintan, the beta male, thinks he’s better because he throws on a suit and has avocado and toast for breakfast alongside people who speak articulately. I’d rather the guy who gets up at 5.00am, slips on a high vis, and nips into Spar for an Irish Pork breakfast roll to supply our nation with the consumables Fintan relies on. This is an anti-man article of pure snobbery. Nothing more. Nothing less.

@paulmurphy_TD You’re not on the side of the working people. You’re on the side of open borders and filling the country with illegal migrants that is costing the working people billions each year.

Which side are you on? Are you on the side of ordinary people who are suffering from the policies of FF, FG, and the Independents who prop them up? Are you on the side of those suffering from this cost of living crisis that comes on top of the previous cost of living crisis?

@AzulaLazuli @declanganley Is she entitled to her opinion, yes she is, but there is a code of conduct that should be adhered to when you’re an employee of the public service. It’s the arrogance or maybe stupidity she has shown to think that video was suitable for public viewing.

@emccafey @declanganley I don’t upload any videos to SM. Not my thing but I have made other mistakes. We should have the sense to recognise pile-ons when we see them and act like adults, not school bullies. It’s one thing to criticise gov policy or policing, but she wasn’t working.

Saw this earlier. Perhaps this will cause an uptick in the sale of Irish flags that can be flown from cars, vans, trucks and tractors. Wouldn’t it be nice if we could make it a thing. 🇮🇪

🇮🇪🚨 Garda Gillian O'Donoghue based in Killarney & husband Paul posted a disgusting video attacking Irish protesters They (mostly her) said: "Spastics with their Irish flags can shove it up their holes" "Absolute wankers" "They can all go fuck themselves, showers of pricks"

#PatrickODonovan is spot-on. Where were the interviews with Dublin shop owners/workers? Why the equivalence accorded law-breaking blockaders and democratically elected Ministers and TDs by one presenter after another ?
TheJournal.ie@thejournal_ie

Minister Patrick O'Donovan has said he will be asking Coimisiún na Meán to review RTÉ and others' coverage of the fuel protests. He suggested that coverage was "lopsided" in favour of the protest and that "carte blanche was given to some people". jrnl.ie/7011275t

With everything you just said, @BishopBarron, I think the Pope owes America—and many Western nations affected by mass migration—a serious apology and a moment of reflection. As a Catholic, I’m genuinely outraged. Outraged at what feels like silence and inconsistency when Christians around the world are suffering persecution and violence at the hands of Muslim and the response of the Church is to put Muslim prayer rooms in Rome. Outraged at that Catholic-linked charities and institutions have become entangled—directly or indirectly—in mass migration, where in many cases, trafficking is involved. And I’m outraged that parts of the Church appear increasingly aligned with political messaging rather than spiritual leadership—especially in moments like this, where the Pope meeting with a prominent Democratic strategist, who is not a Catholic, nor a Christian raises real questions. The Church should not be functioning as a political actor. It should be unapologetically Catholic—rooted in doctrine, tradition, evangelization, and the salvation of souls. Not drifting into policy advocacy or signaling that aligns it with one side of modern political debates. What many faithful Catholics are asking for is simple: clarity, consistency, and a Church that focuses on its mission instead of politics that are destroying the sovereignty of so many Nations.
Bishop Robert Barron@BishopBarron

The statements made by President Trump on Truth Social regarding the Pope were entirely inappropriate and disrespectful. They don’t contribute at all to a constructive conversation. It is the Pope’s prerogative to articulate Catholic doctrine and the principles that govern the moral life. In regard to the concrete application of those principles, people of good will can and do disagree. I would warmly recommend that serious Catholics within the Trump administration–Secretary Rubio, Vice President Vance, Ambassador Brian Burch, and others–might meet with Vatican officials so that a real dialogue can take place. This is far preferable to the statements on social media. I am very grateful for the many ways that the Trump administration has reached out to Catholics and other people of faith. It has been a high honor to serve on the Religious Liberty Commission. No President in my lifetime has shown a greater dedication to defending our first liberty. All that said, I think the President owes the Pope an apology.

Pope Leo states that he has no fear of Trump's administration, nor speaking out loudly about God's message. Trump meanwhile, has angered maybe over a billion Christians in just one day, bullying the pope and image portraying himself as God.

🇮🇪 BREAKING: The Irish Government could collapse TOMORROW after Opposition Parties tabled a ‘No Confidence’ motion following recent protests. Multiple Government politicians will reportedly defect and vote to collapse the Government in tomorrow’s vote. This would be huge! 🤞

@wallacemick I think the vast majority of Ukranian people would disagree with you Mick. It's them and them alone who should decide the course of their nation and if that's democracy, EU membership and a market economy we should respect that and help them.

This is total nonsense. EU + Irish support for US #NATO Proxy War in Ukraine has been a disaster for everyone, in Europe, Ukraine + Russia. A mindless War that the EU spent Billions fueling at great cost to every citizen in Europe. The EU couldn't care less about the Ukrainians..
Leo Varadkar@LeoVaradkar

In my column today, I set out why financial support for Ukraine is 100% in our own self-interest. If Putin wins there'll be more refugees, more wars and price shocks. I also set out why the carbon tax and climate action can free the next generation from the roller coaster of fossil fuel prices we've had to deal with since the 1970's

I suppose now that baracades and protest are subsiding or have more or less ceased - there are a number of fair questions to ask - the GO Fund Me Campaign which has raised monies for food and drink for protestors- what happening the €150k and to date how much has been spent. Given the fact that the protesters were asking for and getting supplies free from local businesses and ordinary people- I am sure there must be a substantial amount still in the fund unused. - will money not used by returned to the hard pressed people who donated? - is the group/individual registered and subject to monitoring - who is managing and auditing spend. What is the governance of the fund. And; Into whose account will this money go or in whose account is it sitting. I suggest that all amount not used should not be used for political use. And secondly that monies if not being returned to donors that the amount be given to organisations like SVP who assist people experiencing financial difficulties and perhaps Pieta House.

The Minister for Communications, Patrick O Donovan seems to believe that the political class are inherently superior to ordinary workers who are being hammered by tax. He wants coimisiún na Mean to essentially regulate who should be allowed on mainstream media platforms. As if the government bribes to almost every single media platform in the country has not tilted public discourse enough. He seems to believe anyone who is not part of the uniparty in Dáil Éireann does not deserve to have a platform. #HowIrelandWorks
