We remain open to developments (for example we used batteries as a buffer to minimise generator runtime during low load this year) but the cost of network reinforcement to deliver sufficient grid power to this remote field is staggering. Economics may change by 2024, we’ll see.

The EMF power grids are designed, built, and tested by consummate professionals. Diesel generation remains the most environmentally conscious and cost-effective option.

@pjvenda @alexbloor @p0welly @lproven @Mosh @emfcamp This is a non profit event and we do everything we can to minimise our costs. We do not supply other attendees with petrol to take them home again. But we would help in an emergency.

@alexbloor @p0welly @lproven @emfnoc @Mosh @emfcamp There is the aspect of *helping people if possible (even if it's not the most env friendly solution) and *the efficiency of a diesel generator is higher than that of a car; Just my personal view. If the org decides it is not sustainable or possible for them to do so, that's fine

I hate to be this guy... But there really do seem to be a number of EV fans who a) think you're not estimating your range needs properly b) once you explain your working, seem to not know the meaning of "non stop" and then recommend you buy expensive coffee in the services.

@pjvenda @alexbloor @p0welly @lproven @Mosh @emfcamp I believe we stated this quite clearly: We ask that you arrive at EMF with enough charge to leave at the end of the event. We will be able to provide EV charging in an emergency.

@p0welly @alexbloor @Mosh @lproven @emfcamp Expecting to charge an EV off our diesel generators was a ludicruous idea even in 2018. There are charge stations in Ledbury. In 2022 with the insane price of diesel, asking other attendees to subsidise your early adoption/lifestyle is incomprehensible.

The poor NOC-DC will go back to storing food instead of internets.

All the field has been rolled in except the NOC-DC which, due to a complex sequence of dependencies, is fully up and running today while the tent it is due to be unloaded into is being deconstructed!

@shauntremayne It was found in our giant box of UK-C13 cables that have multiplied again. Now decanted into three slightly smaller boxes that can be lifted by humans.

@emfnoc What was this 13a plug connected to? Is this pure corrosion?
