The Dutch Gymnastics Federation somehow forgot to enter the rhythmic gymnastics national team for the European Championships. Missing the deadline prevents the gymnasts from taking part at the ECH and qualifying to the WCH. The gymnasts are shocked. nu.nl/sport-overig/6…

@brunorochade Because they must, as per the rules. They are also free not to apply for a neutral status, if they don't want to do that. BTW all the other AIN gymnasts (both from Belarus and Russia) faced the flags.

@emgergo Everyone has their country's flag except Russia, so why would it turn to a flag that isn't its own?

So I was looking at the rulebooks. Statutes, Technical Regulations, Code of Conduct & Rules for Award Ceremony all seem to apply, but are a bit vague. If Rules for Award Ceremony applies, this section applies, and it seems to be violated. (Photo: Anna Nedkova)

The Italian Gymnastics Federation announced that Egle Abruzzini, one of the key figures in the modern history of RG, has passed away. The 1936-born expert has worked on the topmost technical level of RG for 28 years. federginnastica.it/news/si-%C3%A8…

The Ukrainian Gymnastics Federation will file an official complaint about the award ceremony incident in Sofia to the Gymnastics Ethivs Foundation. They seek disqualification and neutral status rescinding for Ilteryakova. ugf.org.ua/news/oficzijna…

If you're just familiarising yourself with the Rules for Award ceremonies document, it's something that needs to go into a crackvid. One more line and they have a pentagram here 😃

the GEF and CAS awards are the funniest read, but this is maybe the best phrase to ever come out of the trikomiti event. It contains multitudes. Honorable mentions to the forgotten son and the FIG saying euros are always overscored.

@sunrisegymnast I believe the good solution is a flagpole to the front of the podium. Because if it's there, anyone wanting to demonstrate will have to literally turn their back, so it's more straightforward.

BTW what is it with Sofia and award ceremonies? Last year Taisiia didn't turn around for the Bulgarian anthem. But then she was doing the selfies. youtube.com/live/ppkPrq8z9…

@kmkeirns @dylankomova Or FIG (sorry, World Gymnastics) checks the box with "well, she was on the podium, photographers were able to do podium shots, let's move on"

@kmkeirns @dylankomova As per the official Rules for Award Ceremony: "...the athletes must remain on the podium for a short while in order to provide photographers with the opportunity to take pictures." If that is in effect, not posing shall be an infringement, it's just likely not enforced.

@notaswfan It might be that she does her mandatory podium photo with standing there, but the Rules for Award Ceremony states "Once the National anthem is played, the athletes must remain on the podium for a short while in order to provide photographers with the opportunity to take pictures"

@notaswfan But also, it was a thing last year as well (she did the podium ceremony, did not pose for photo with an AIN athlete), and I don't remember any sanction for that
