@northernassist Please would you give an update on the disruption on the MAN-NMC line (for everyone, not just me!) This was from yesterday, but the webpage still says line reopen 2/1 12:00, despite having been updated 3/1 6:47, so not clear what the current estimate is northernrailway.co.uk/service-updates

@northernassist To misplace one crew member is unfortunate, etc etc! It would perhaps have been helpful to mention it under service disruptions. (Or more helpful still to have enough staff to avoid such problems!)

@northernassist Hello, what is happening on the MAN-New Mills Central line this evening please? Almost all services are cancelled, and there's 1 rail replacement bus scheduled at around 7pm, but no explanation as to what's going on.

@AndyBurnhamGM Thanks Andy. Those of us on the Goyt Valley line (Man Picc- Marple/New Mills Ctrl & Rose Hill Marple) have noticed similar levels of disruption, often a couple of consecutive services cancelled in evening peak, multiple services cancelled at the weekend etc. Embarassing indeed.

It's nice to see the Romiley station subway open again - though the budget clearly only went so far.

@northernassist Disruption was meant to end in May, then June, now "until further notice". Do you have an estimated date? And, importantly, what steps are being taken to ensure stability of current reduced timetable and minimise further disruption in the interim? 2/

@JohnGre91077225 @northernassist There have been planned works too, 5th April may be correct for that. Emergency works in New Mills/Chinley caused big service reductions (to hourly) last week. Timetable showing as normal for w/c 15th but that may change nearer the time based on experience of past couple of weeks

@northernassist Hello there. Please could you advise why you have cut a vital morning service from Marple to Manchester Piccadilly? Every day this was a standing room only service so clearly you should be adding services not cutting them

@emilylovedhim Fantastic! We loved it, even though it would have been even better to have seen that amazing staging in real life... The rain was spectacular! Esther was Mary Warren in a local production a couple of years back. Lovely to hear from you - how are you? :-)

@alanfricker People should have to pass some kind of test and get a licence to be allowed into an open plan office (or public transport, or out in public generally)

Office is slowly closing ahead of move. Someone near new desk is having a teams meeting without headphones. In an open plan. And the desks here have no mice or keyboards...

@ImyJohnson35 @ischoolpam @bbc5live @BBCSounds Yes, we know why- something to do with study design needing to be appropriate to the setting, research question etc perhaps? While they are a gold standard, it doesn't mean they are always appropriate.

@ischoolpam @bbc5live @BBCSounds The only scientific papers showing a benefit from masks are ‘observational’ studies or meta analysis, no RCT based study has been able to show a statistical benefit. …there has been very very few RCTs, and we all know why.

@dansarkozi @trishgreenhalgh I'm not sure you really understand what peer review is, and isn't. If you're genuinely interested in understanding diff levels of evidence, that's great, but dismissing a paper as "disinformation" over current publication status isn't helpful twitter.com/emilylovedhim/…
Emily@emilylovedhim

@dansarkozi @ischoolpam @FreddieScovell @bbc5live @BBCSounds How is it not repeatable? If it follows PRISMA & protocol is available, a systematic review is usually the easiest type of study to repeat & update. Pointing out a pre-print isn't (yet) peer reviewed isn't some gotcha that renders a paper null & void either. 1/

@dansarkozi @ischoolpam @FreddieScovell @bbc5live @BBCSounds Important to understand different types of research and their limitations, yes, but you're not contributing constructively to dismiss papers as "disinformation" unless you understand levels of evidence, publication process, appraisal etc and represent this fairly. 2/
