Last month, a brand paid me ₦200,000 to constantly talk about them on X. (I won’t go into details) I knew I was underpaid. And I’d never charge that for LinkedIn. But at the time, my account had barely 10,000 followers, so I took it as a side benefit and did the job anyway. Fast forward to yesterday, I charged another brand my usual $600, and they paid without hesitation. Why? Because my brand has evolved, my audience has more than doubled, and now, they can clearly see the value. Moral of the story: keep doing what you’re doing, even when it doesn’t feel like it’s paying off yet. Another one: don’t price yourself based only on where you are; build like you’re already where you’re going. And one more: sometimes you accept less, not because that’s your worth, but because you’re investing in visibility, growth, and proof. Keep your head up!
