@USMCLiberal Mothers were told harsh discipline was necessary, esp. for boys, and that it required fathers to raise boys...that they were too lenient. "Tough love" was touted as the fix for bratty behavior even in toddlers. Return of strict toileting/sleeping advice.

One thing I’ve noticed about MAGA —from Trump and Musk, on down to their supporters— is an across-the-board lack of compassion. That is, unless they are directly affected — then they become indignant when others don’t sympathize with them. It’s borderline sociopathic behavior.

@USMCLiberal Yes, and they've been carefully coached in that lack of compassion for years...coached by right wing educators, scientists, medical professionals, bosses, as well as obvious politicians.

@GeorgeTakei Women are citizens. Right now, at least, the law says they have the same rights as male citizens. That means ANY limitations on their travel between states is NOT CONSTITUTIONAL.

@Robmontz @charlesmurray The American Enterprise Institute is a politically biased right wing (no longer, if they ever were, "center/right" as they claim) "think tank"...not a true research entity. They can call someone a "scholar" based on their own opinion. I don't agree.

New mini-doc: @charlesmurray's "IQ Revolution" Charles Murray, a long-time scholar at the American Enterprise Institute, is one of the most important social scientists of the last 50 years. His work reveals profound, unseen truths about the shifts in American society. And yet, to the average person, the word they think of when they hear his name is "Racist." Or "White Supremacist." Or "Pseudo-scientist." Murray has been subjected to 30 years of misrepresentation and name-calling, primarily based on a single chapter in his book "The Bell Curve," which, when it was released in the early 90s, caused a national firestorm and propelled Murray into intellectual superstardom. And all that controversy has obscured what Murray's life's work is really about: it's about "the invisible revolution." This is an epic, sustained restructuring of America into a new class system, not based on race, gender, or nationality, but on IQ, on the power in people's brains.

@CalameDiana @Robmontz @charlesmurray Yup. I read his stuff when it first came out. Sloppy thinking, sloppy data collection, seeking to prove his hypothesis rather than disprove it...the difference between good science and bad. And yes, I had the background in stats back then to know what I saw.

@SenWarren Keep it up. My background as a former code jockey while in the military makes me acutely aware of how much damage those young men Musk owns can do.

If you're one of the 40 million people with student loans, Elon Musk’s team may have gotten access to your Social Security number, income data, and personal information. I'm leading 18 senators in an investigation into DOGE’s actions at the Department of Education.

If SB 2 becomes law, and given the delta between the $10k voucher and the typical yearly tuition at accredited private schools, the only affordable (to parents) solution I can see to providing sufficient class space is to build new schools; yes, new for profit schools built at scale to accommodate the new education voucher economy. It’ll be similar to HUD’s section 8 vouchers: Using public money to pay private, for profit vendors to provide the service that the public entity used to provide. You can see the problem.

@JaworskiForTX Yeah, it increases the cost of schools AND amounts to illegal collusion to privatize government and enrich individual citizens and harm others using government services.

@JessicaUSAF Yup. Also insisted we pull out of World Health Organization and cease all related foreign aid. WHO and epidemic surveillance, and funding aid to nations with outbreaks of (frex) Marburg virus is how come we haven't had outbreaks here.

@joncoopertweets I am personally PROUD of Bishop Budde. SHE is doing God's work; she is on rock-solid theological ground. There will be no apologies from me for my denomination, that cathedral, or Bishop Budde. Trump is not a Christian, demonstrates 0 Christian virtues, is a walking scandal.

Trump is such a vile, disgusting, cruel, selfish, and heartless man. He doesn’t have a shred of human decency — none whatsoever. No compassion. No mercy. No shame. No heart. No soul. Of course, everyone knows that, but it still needs to be said at every opportunity.

@jeremiahjw I've been saying that since BEFORE the election. Tariffs on the foreign-sourced food we need because we no longer feed our own population, AND lack of workers for our ag industry = less food produced = higher cost. MUCH higher. And this is what MAGA wanted.

75% of immigrant farm workers didn’t show up yesterday in Bakersfield because of fears of ICE raids under the new presidency. America’s rural and agricultural regions will be the hardest hit from Trump’s immigration policies. Food prices are going to skyrocket.

BREAKING: In a new executive order, Donald Trump has revoked the federal contractor nondiscrimination executive order, EO 11246, that was signed by Lyndon Johnson in 1965 and has protected employees of businesses seeking federal contracts from discrimination ever since.
