"Not all water is potable freshwater—some operators increasingly use reclaimed wastewater or non-potable sources, and alternatives like air cooling, immersion/liquid cooling, or dry coolers can slash or nearly eliminate water use (though they may trade off energy efficiency)." x.com/i/grok/share/e…

Increasingly difficult to find movies where the plot would not be dramatically simpler given an LLM lol

I guess it's also why people have struggled to come up with decent premises in the recent decade or so Everything can be resolved or figured out rather fast, especially now "@ grok what do" breaks most plots and makes it much more boring

@lazaro45ive It's kinda similar to one of the shots on an ending mission in Cyberpunk 2077 where you ride a Delamain taxi back to Night City I think the mission is "Things Done Changed"(?)

Yeah. I also think people need to be allowed a few years to initially access and explore the sheer volume of information and ways of the Internet before they can actually apply it to any meaningful decision making, so they can learn contexts and "digital etiquette" so to speak; like you say, it's a social layer you can't exactly opt out of these days, and not having it is crippling and will stunt people with unrealistic expectations/no immunity to things like trolling from legacy internet culture etc. and will create "oversensitivity" (seen in the digital ID verification push ignoring everything bad about it because of short sighted morals) Everyone kind of needs a digital "youthful angst" phase of whatever edgy ideology they end up leaning to, but also need to have the freedom and capacity to be able to exit it with maturity as most do with a regular teenage angst phase Because that said, social media's push to engagement-driven capture is also a problem that even "adults" still struggle to wrap their heads around (ending up pigeonholed into digital silos and echo chambers thinking it's what everyone else sees) and unfortunately it's a blind spot everyone generally has to an extent, meaning people often get stuck in a fandom/community/ideology with no escape I think it needs a balance of people being formally taught how the infrastructure of the internet/social media works other than "magic algorithm shows me things I like somehow", perhaps increasingly also with a side of "internet history" to understand the landscape (like how a lot of the "culture war" stems from 4chan/tumblr) so people are aware before they go into the digital trenches But ultimately being able to actually experience it and each community, whether "good" or "bad", needs to be an element to understand how it works too, like how one only truly learns about life by actually living, not through [biased] taught history and layers of abstraction

Many of these things were set arbitrarily to begin with. Voting most notably. 21, for many of these things, strikes me as a good age given the prolonged-adolescence which people experience well into their mid 20s. As to social media bans; this is now the primary means of human communication and information exchange - limiting it is essentially choosing to stunt & cripple a generation who will be required to be digitally aware in ways that were formerly optional. Many of that forthcoming generation have already been learning-impaired by the isolation of multi-year lockdowns to boot.

It would make going to historical sites incredible if XR glasses could fill in wireframe views of what things were actually meant to look like

I really don't give a fuck if I make people upset over it. But screen time for toddlers is ABSOLUTELY FUCKING INSANE. pay attention to what people show their kids. the VIDEOS ARE LITERALLY HYPNOTIC ULTRA SATURATED WITH SPECIFIC TIME CLIP SCHEDULES & SOUNDS

i’m not worried about my screen time, because every conscious effort to touch grass is resisting a future where there’s no distinction between your device and you. the object will become part of your body at some point, and it will be ok!
