@DarraghOBrienTD @johnstephensff None of you work for results, you work for an exorbitant salary & comfy pension.Govt long stopped working for the people. If he has such a clear understanding of his community, there'd be no need for photo shoots.A government should be afraid of its people & its getting back to it

Could sky & the bbc be any more against women & girls simply getting what men & boys still get, fair & safe sport based on the reality of the body we actually have. Why do they always do ‘ poor me’ stories by the males in WOMEN’S sport, rather than the women losing out? They don’t do that for drug cheats gaining an unfair advantage! Oh yeah it affects mostly men’s sport…

This is an absolute scandal.
Serbian football team Crvena Zvezda has been fined €95,500 after fans choreographed a motif of Jesus Christ!
UEFA fined them for "displaying a message not fit for a sporting event and bringing the reputation of football and UEFA itself into disrepute".
The image was a traditional Orthodox tifo of Jesus Christ or Saint Simeone the Myrrh-flowing, while the text underneath read:
“May our faith lead you to victory".
UEFA has stopped games for Ramadan and openly promoted BLM and LGBT campaigns during tournaments.
But Christianity is ‘inappropriate’?!
What an utter disgrace.

Liverpool’s anaemic title defence has to go down as one of the worst in years. To play with this lack of intensity, this lack of organisation defensively, this lack of pace is so poor and reflects badly on Arne Slot. Liverpool teams have identity. This one doesn’t.
Liverpool are such a difficult watch: good players shorn of energy and belief (Kerkez and Mamardashvili played well, Ngumoha deserves to come on earlier). Mitigating factors exist, including the failure to move earlier last summer and land Marc Guehi that proved very damaging.
A decision has to be made on Slot in the summer, but surely not now. Not while Liverpool are still in the Champions League - although PS-G’s Kvaratskhelia, Dembele, Barcola and Doue will take some stopping by that vulnerable defence. Not while they are still in the FA Cup - although they travel to Manchester City four days before visiting PS-G.
And not while they still have a chance of finishing in the top five - although their run-in involves run-ins: Everton, Manchester United and Aston Villa away. Fulham, Palace, Chelsea (six-pointer) and Brentford at home. Forbidding schedule. #LFC

@henrywinter Should the frustration of winning nothing for 6 years, no trophy not be enough drive today no? Amazing english problem of defending inadequacies. Defending & eeking out results will probably work over a league (Mourinho 05') but cups when you have to go to win, no

Declan Rice consoled by Thomas Tuchel as he went up to collect his loser’s medal. Rice was the picture of frustration. Missed opportunity by Arsenal. They froze. Big names didn’t deliver. So many good players but just didn’t go for it. Inhibited almost. Failed to react tactically or with any real energy or defiance when City took control of midfield.
Arsenal must use that frustration as fuel to drive them to the trophy that matters most - the title. Head off on international break (initially a break for Rice), refresh, regroup and attack the rest of the season. So much talent. So much still to play for. Have to stay strong and go again. #AFC

@henrywinter Rodri clearly forgetting his handball against Everton that went in his favor and had a bearing on city winning the title that season
English

Typically when Rodri speaks out football listens. He’s respected within the game not simply for his footballing achievements, Trebles, Euros, Ballon d’Or, but because he’s a thoughtful individual and a leader on significant issues. Rodri warned about the risks of over-playing and called on Fifa to address the crowded calendar.
Manchester City’s captain has now spoken out about officiating following frustration, echoed by Guardiola, about decisions not going their way against Spurs, in particular when Solanke makes contact with Guehi in scoring his first. Rodri’s wrong and right.
He’s wrong to claim some conspiracy amongst Premier League refs against City. “I know we won too much and the people don’t want us to win, but the referee has to be neutral,” Rodri told Australian broadcaster Stan Sport. Most players and fans believe the refereeing authorities have it in for them. All clubs suffer bad decisions. It's not a City issue, it's football. Everyone remembers the decisions that don't get their way, rather than the ones that do.
Rodri deserves a short ban for his ill-judged comments. He needs to retract his suggestion that refs aren’t neutral and, in fairness, he does also mention his "respect" for them in the interview. Rodri’s an influential voice and it undermines the integrity of the league if such claims aren’t countered or withdrawn. His comments could dissuade those considering taking up refereeing.
But when the FA censures Rodri let us hope they also listen to him. Because Rodri is right about refereeing standards. (He himself should really have received a second yellow against Spurs). It's not a great generation of officials, not helped by the demands and unpopularity of VAR. Rodri's also right about issues with VAR. That side of his outburst should be heeded, more investment made in refereeing and more of the in-game audio between officials released.
