A Nigerian man was working as a cashier at a DIY (hardware) store in London. He was caught letting his wife steal £200 worth of materials. Both convicted. One year later he was arrested again. This time at Euston station with another man’s stolen credit card. Convicted again. He returned to Nigeria. And he ran for governor of Delta State. Nigerian law said you cannot run if you have a criminal conviction. He forged his date of birth on his passport to hide his UK record. Nobody checked. He won. 😂😂😂 His official salary as governor was $25,000 a year. He bought six properties in London. A mansion in Johannesburg. Properties in Washington and Houston. A private jet worth $20 million. A Bentley. A Maybach. A fleet of armoured Range Rovers. His American Express bills showed he spent tens of thousands of dollars every single month on luxury hotels, clubs and shopping. In 2007 Nigeria’s anti-corruption chief accused him of stealing $250 million from Delta State. Ibori offered the EFCC chairman $15 million in cash to drop the case. The chairman pretended to accept. Then deposited the cash at the Central Bank. Nigerian courts still acquitted him on all 170 charges. He ran. Escaped to Dubai. A mob of his supporters fought off the police trying to arrest him. Interpol caught him in Dubai. The UK extradited him. In 2012 he pleaded guilty in a London court. The judge called the £50 million he admitted to stealing “ludicrously low.” He was sentenced to 13 years. Served half. Returned to Nigeria in 2017. A sitting senator was in the crowd that welcomed him home. His name is James Ibori. Nigeria never convicted him once. 🇳🇬

VIDEO: A Nigerian soldier who survived the deadly Boko Haram attack on a military base in Benisheikh, Borno State, has shared a video revealing the aftermath of the assault that killed Brigadier General O. Braimah.
Nigerian Army@HQNigerianArmy

DHQ PRESS RELEASE TROOPS OF OPERATION HADIN KAI SUCCESSFULLY REPEL TERRORIST ATTACK IN BENISHEIKH In continuation of the Armed Forces of Nigeria’s (AFN) counter terrorism efforts, troops of the 29 Task Force Brigade in Operation HADIN KAI came under a coordinated terrorist attack on their location at the Brigade Headquarters in Benisheikh, Borno State. The attack occurred at approximately 0030hrs (12:30am) on Thursday, 9 April 2026, as insurgents attempted to breach the defensive perimeter of the military installation. However, the troops, led by the Commander 29 Brigade, Brigadier General Oseni Braimah, responded with exceptional courage, professionalism, and superior firepower. In a well-coordinated counteraction, the insurgents were decisively engaged and forced to retreat in disarray, abandoning their mission and leaving behind traces of their failed assault. This attack is a clear indication of the desperation of terrorist elements who, having suffered significant losses in recent operations, continue to resort to futile and ill-fated offensives against well-defended military positions. The swift and decisive response by troops underscores the high level of combat readiness, resilience, and operational effectiveness of Operation HADIN KAI in safeguarding critical locations and maintaining pressure on terrorist groups across the North-East theatre. Regrettably, the encounter resulted in the loss of a few brave and gallant soldiers who paid the supreme price in the line of duty. The Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Olatunbosun Oluyede, honours their heroism, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to the defence of the nation. Their courage will forever remain a source of pride and inspiration to the Armed Forces of Nigeria and the entire nation. The High Command extends its deepest condolences to their families and loved ones. In line with established military tradition and respect for the fallen, the general public and media are kindly requested to allow the Armed Forces to formally notify the next of kin before the release of further details. The public is also urged to disregard misinformation, sensational reports, and unverified content circulating across social media platforms, as these undermine ongoing operations and national security efforts. The Armed Forces of Nigeria, in collaboration with other security agencies and stakeholders, remain resolute and undeterred in the ongoing fight against terrorism and insurgency. Additional clearance and exploitation operations are ongoing in the general area to track and neutralize fleeing insurgents, as well as to deny them any opportunity to regroup. The Chief of Defence Staff, commends the bravery, discipline, and steadfastness of the troops, whose sacrifices continue to ensure the safety, stability, and sovereignty of Nigeria. Their dedication in one of the most challenging operational environments reaffirms the Armed Forces’ commitment to restoring lasting peace in the North-East and across the country. The general public is encouraged to continue supporting the Armed Forces through timely and credible information that can aid ongoing operations. Citizens are urged to remain calm, vigilant, and law-abiding as security forces sustain momentum in ongoing operations. Further updates will be provided as necessary. Signed MICHAEL ONOJA Major General Director, Defence Media Operations Defence Headquarters Abuja 9 April 2026

U.S. Security Alarm on Nigeria: A Bad Omen The recent directive by the United States to evacuate its embassy staff from Nigeria due to rising insecurity is deeply worrisome and should be treated as a national emergency, especially for a country already struggling to attract investors. Nigeria currently ranks fourth in the Global Terrorism Index, yet insecurity continues to worsen - lives are being lost and communities remain under constant threat. There is a glaring absence of effective governance; instead, what prevails are schemes that undermine democratic processes, as though politics has taken precedence over the safety of citizens. The U.S. directive is a clear signal of declining confidence in our national security architecture. Disturbingly, reports indicate the loss of yet another Army Brigadier General to terrorists in Borno earlier today. A nation where people cannot live, work, worship, or travel safely cannot progress or attract investment. The primary duty of any government is the protection of lives and property, yet in this regard, we as leaders have fallen short over the years. Our failure continues to place immense strain on our troops, who make the ultimate sacrifices. Sadly, as Nigeria deteriorates, we as leaders, like Nero, remain preoccupied with politics, forgetting that without security, there is no nation to govern and no future to campaign for. A New Nigeria is POssible. -PO
