@enfoarchitect

I'm interested in FF14 and cross-cultural high-end raiding. I play on JP servers from California.

While I enjoy being a Lalafell, the feeling of running fast, the clarity of seeing my character for raid gimmicks, and stumbling upon mini-communities of Lalafells and blending in, something happened to me yesterday. Now, I will never ever play a Lalafell ever again for my main character in FF14. Ever. I can't disclose what happened, but if you know, you know.

The theme of the new Ultimate is all but confirmed at this point. But it's cute that they still put a "Secret" on the slide for the new ultimate in the Live Letter.

@gspearind It's funny that the part that most people care about, are just the final seconds of the trailer and not the Live Letter itself.

Healing a Dark Knight that doesn't use their mitigations is like trying to keep ice cream from melting in the sun by repeatedly applying ice cubes.

@anemonemaru__ It's always incredible when I see streamers just jump into PF FRU like you did today and do so well without any Callouts, and just read all the gimmicks independently! I'm somebody that relies on my 固定 members, so it's something I cannot do yet. Very impressive!

@enfoarchitect Going into Ultimates and Savages with 'clear parties' is such a blast! Maybe the best part of doing these 'fun runs' is getting to hear the cheers and see the excitement of other players when they finally get that clear.🥳🥳

If there was such thing as the most "advanced society" in the world, what would it look like? With the advent of post-modernism, this type of question may not even be a politically correct one to ask. But I ask anyways. And the (subjective) answer I've settled upon is that Japan is the most advanced human society that exists in our world today. At a time when trust and confidence in one's own society is eroding in countries all over the world, including my own, Japan remains a place where its members place (relatively) high trust, confidence, and dignity in each other. There's plenty of examples on X/Twitter of Japanese life that shocks the rest of the world. Stores where expensive goods are not locked down behind security cases, streets and shared spaces so spotless and clean, crime so low that women can feel safe coming home from work via Public Transit late at night. But perhaps the most poignant example in my daily gaming life is the PF environment that Japanese FF14 players have for Ultimate raids (絶のら). FF14 Ultimate raids are perhaps one of the most difficult activities that a group of players can accomplish together in the MMO gaming world. It requires an incredibly consistency and stamina. Trying to tackle an ultimate raid among Statics (固定) or among friends is an endeavor that put relationships at risk from dealing with the sheer difficulty of the content. There's so many stories about friendships and Statics that were broken from the latest Ultimate raids. Omega Zetsu (TOP) and Dragonsong Zetsu (DSR) were so difficult that it basically destroyed the motivation of popular FF14 content creators, those with thousands of viewers, to continue to play FF14. One of the top raiding teams from World of Warcraft, Echo, took over 1600 pulls and even a team reformation to be able to clear TOP. You need a incredible amount of trust and confidence in your teammates. Especially when a mistake 13 minutes into the encounter forces you to reset back to square one. The mind-boggling thing is that there is sizable amount of Japanese FF14 players that tackle Ultimate content, not just in statics, but with complete strangers in PF (のら). They do it, not just for the title and fancy weapons, but both entirely as fun runs (暇つぶし) PTs, or to help strangers clear (クリ目). To be sure, Ultimate PF exists in NA as well. But the atmosphere is completely different. NA PF players get so salty they check the records of everyone that joins and kick out the "sus" players. The trust and tolerance for mistakes is very low, and it's a common thing to see PTs disband after one or two mistakes without a single word. And most of all, this is rare and small community, with most Ultimate PF ads in PF advertising for statics. Both the Savage and Ultimate clear rates are anywhere from four to 10 times higher in Japan than in NA, depending on which servers you are comparing, and I feel that because Japan is a society built on trust, manners, decorum, and confidence in fellow members, that this is possible. To me this is what an advanced society looks like. So when I see JP streamers join Ultimate PFs for fun, it might look like a normal and mundane activity to pass the time for them. But from my point of view, it's an incredible showcase of how nice their society is, and how skilled and independent they are as a player.

Very handy, especially for those *Certain* characters who have still not unlocked flying for their sub characters and only realized it at the last second during a Mob Hunt Train.

The common misheard (そらみみ) lyrics for M12S in English is "Everything Birds" (represented by the shown strategy board). But today I learned, the most common misheard lyrics for M12S(4層前半)in Japanese is "えびちんぼーん” (ebichinbo-n) I don't think a strategy board that represents what that phrase means would be appropriate.

fyi for people who care about parsing since I found out only today: once either boss reaches 1hp and dies in m10s the other boss will then take two damage instances from cleaves to compensate, however both hits will have 0 falloff allowing for you to gain very significant dps

Korean is so difficult that even AI translation struggles with even today. I only know three Korean words: Sangae (like 散開), Aigo, and Ssibal. (草) The many different ways to conjugate Japanese Godan Verbs is what I'm struggling with right now. I regret not taking Japanese classes during college. Really regret it. Even though I loved Japan back then, I didn't think I would ever get the chance to interact with Japanese people. But FF14 has given me that chance! BTW if you want to be friends on Duolingo you can add me, I'm "EnfoTitan" ww

@enfoarchitect Japanese is so difficult because it has so many expressions, right? If Japanese wasn't my native language, I wouldn't be able to learn it either! Speaking of which, Korean is full of symbols and I can't understand it at all!🤣🤣
