1. You risk money at evo. Pay to play and T8 in a nutshell 2. Paying again, counting cards counteracts the luck argument imo. (T8 is a casino, my opinion but some characters and moves are pure 50/50 and animation mixed) it’s like learning your opponent’s hand/character, probability n such of throwing out this or having this card or move. (It is gambling tho imo) 3. So it depends on the % variation of luck? But prize pool comes from the winnings as there wouldn’t be a tournament without the entrance fees, money laundering imo/perspective. Even if skill is high, the structure is still risk-based redistribution. 4. Old tekken is skill based, imo tho again as T8 is…not really tekken imo as skill expression along with character identity has been washed away (imo tho) 5. I don’t see 5 6. Other points, redundancy 7. Understandable 8. Thanks, I’m just trying to understand. Sorry if this comes off otherwise. I don’t play poker or any card game besides Yugioh and magic btw. I read on some places, months ago, tekkken is haram and others say it isn’t. Talked to a mutual on here, I think he’s still a friend, and he was kind of explaining that it wasn’t haram. Though we were discussing a whole different situation at the time and where mainly discussing that than and its handling than anything else.

Can someone way more enlightened and knowledgeable than me tell me what we define as gambling in Islam? I am very ignorant about it. Here's few doubts i have. For example: there's basically no difference between entering a poker tournament(sit n go style) and a tekken tournament. In both scenarios, you pay a registration fee, and if your choices where you apply game theory are correct, you win on average a prize depending on your performance. Are they both allowed? Is one allowed and the other is not? And what is the difference in tekken between a tournament and a money match? A money match it's like a tournament made by 2 people instead of more, and there's actually way less luck involved(longer sets and you already know your opponent, while in tournament you might have an easier path than others to top 8). What am i seeing wrong?
