My disposition to Pastor Chris Onayinka is textbook teaching on the evil of hearsay and false witnessing. I heard all sorts of accusations against him on campus and I believed them because they came from those I respected- they accused him of the most damnable heresies and licentiousness. Someone in the youth church I served in back in 2017 left to join Saints Comm, I checked up on her years after and her growth was all the testimony I needed - she was winning souls, leading a cell of quite a number of people, and working in the supernatural. I repented of my disposition towards him. On closer observation I found his ministry to be very conservative, ethical, narrowly focused on things that matter - evangelism and discipleship, much more than those who spoke ill of him. @tweetsbybright Okay sorry but this is still not an Akwa Ibom thing. I went home for Christmas and had 9 hour work days and my parents understood just fine. I also know many people in the “hustling” parts of Nigeria that still have this issue with their parents

It’s funny because I actually fall into this category. I still live with my family, so I can relate. Between December and January, I could barely do my job because I was always at the oil mill with my mom. I had to be "stubborn" just to show my work was important; I’d literally find a corner of the farm just to attend my stand-ups. PS: I work remotely. When I talked to my mom and our nurse about it, the nurse just said, "As long as you’re in your parents' house, you do what they want" which I totally agree to. She also suggested I tell my boss I’ll work 3 hours a day so I can help my mother! This really says a lot about the "Eka Ufok" mentality. It’s like a Madam and Intern relationship. Family don’t respect work boundaries; they feel you can just call your boss, say your parents need you, and you’ll be granted an excuse every time. And this mentality is a huge reason why outsiders think we lack a "hustling spirit," and it’s exactly why so many of us want to move to the "hustling" parts of Nigeria just to have a career.

Hmmm I’ve had a top company abroad say that they can’t hire from Akwa Ibom anymore because they feel that "hustling spirit" just isn't there. It’s crazy when you think about it. Imagine inviting someone for an interview and they just ghost you, only to come back later and casually say they were "on the road." In a professional environment, that’s just not a valid excuse. I’ve also seen people skip work or miss important remote meetings because they have choir rehearsal. While I respect people's personal lives, that kind of behavior doesn't fly in a corporate setting. It’s happened so many times now that it’s actually starting to hurt the reputation of talents from the state.

I know so many young Akwa Ibom men & women, hustling like there is no tomorrow. Some with jobs, second jobs & side businesses. Some own businesses & are still learning tech skills. Then someone will wake up and shxt on their hustle & say “AKS has no hustling spirit” Uwafid.
