Me when Claude asks me to make a choice pretending that I'm thinking before clicking "Option 1 (recommended)".

@mourner I just wanted to say that this is incredible work! When I was creating my renderer I faced this problem and was astonished by its complexity. Never thought it would be resolved so soon.

Just released polylabel v2.1.0, where my tiny JS library for finding the pole of inaccessibility of a polygon gets 35 times (!) faster. This library has been around for 10 years — very satisfying to discover such massive speedups even in mature projects like this. ⚡️

@peduarte I feel like the principle is still working here: we can make the animation quicker, but make the popover unresponsive immediately, i.e. as if there is no animation at all.

i dont think its as binary as that there are loads of nuances that should prob be looked at and considered case-by-case in this case, it could potentially have a quick exit animation, but it shouldve been done in a way that the popover doesnt magically re-appear when you hover over it while its being hidden (pointer events none, for example)

if you needed another reason why animating on exit is bad, here it is

I made a personal black hole that makes you take breaks 🕳️ A shader for Ghostty that spawns a small black hole in your terminal - it drifts around, gravitationally lensing your text. The longer you work without stopping, the bigger it gets, until it's basically demanding you go touch grass Take a break and it quietly shrinks away

Very shallow research gave me menacing results. In the 1990s, a URL had a half-life of 15–20 years. By the early 2000s, it dropped to 6–7 years. Today it's closer to 1–3 years.

What is the half-life of the Internet? If I open the bookmarks I've collected over the last 10 years, more than half of them are gone.

Totalmente enamorado de esta propuesta de bandera planetaria. Un circulo azul para representar nuestro planeta, y el resto transparente para que el fondo sea parte de la bandera

@PunishedAlbert The One World Flag is easily the best (transparent so the background is incorporated into the flag)

@JoeLongBalls It's already totally blue (the result of melting glaciers) and the rest is not bio-degradable transparent plastic. Aliens will know what the fuck is up.
