thank you coach for sharing your story about #wulei amid the fake noise of the last 24 hours 🥹💚
“our sessions always took place after he finished work so they were very late. the earliest we ever started was 8pm, usually we’d begin at 10 or 11pm. once we even started at 1am. i was so exhausted. even though wulei was exhausted too and even though he would have had plenty of excuses if the match didn’t go well, he truly valued and cherished that opportunity. he worked incredibly hard for it.
when i think about how he spent his days filming and memorizing lines, yet still persisted in practicing tennis at night, i truly admire his professionalism.”

#wulei about taking breaks from filming (for other works)
“i think an actor needs to find a certain balance. sometimes it is indeed better to stay immersed in your role for a long period of time. but other times, it feels also great to step out, meet other people and adjust your mindset. maybe you will find a new perspective on your character. it’s like when you’re stuck on a problem and can’t find a solution no matter how hard you think. then you do something else and suddenly the answer appears. i think acting works the same way. if you’re too stubborn, you stop being objective.”

#wulei about being so emotionally stable
“i always say i’m emotionally stable and i think it’s because i’m a pretty lucky person. i’m doing what i love, i’m filming a drama that i like. everything is going well. i don’t have a lot of big issues in my life. that’s why i’m emotionally stable. if bad things happen to me, i don’t know if i’ll still be emotionally stable. so i feel like i am facing my life with calmness and gratitude. that’s probably why i look so stable emotionally.”

last night, #wulei’s tennis coach went live and shared many interesting stories about leilei
1. when preparing for the shanghai masters, wulei was filming a movie at night in foshan, and still went to practice tennis at 1am.
2. once he practiced for 4 hours straight, even the coach was exhausted but wulei wouldn’t stop.
3. coach said wulei’s level among amateur players is very high, he’s talented. once they rallied over 50 or 60 shots. even his sister was so shocked by his skills that she screamed “i can’t believe you played that!”
4. when wulei practices a new technique, he often can’t get it right at first, but once he suddenly gets it, he becomes so happy and would shout “i got it!” with a big smile. the coach said that smile healed him.
5. on the racket wulei used in the shanghai masters tournament, there was a shock absorber with the word “must win” on it, a gift from the coach. the coach said wulei performed very in the tournament and has great mental strength.
