@BlockedByBamba Yea nothing wrong with a board but pretty much impossible to analyze later. Better to focus on written/qualitative evals

This is part of why I left the big board game, you’re better off trying to rank certain guys high by predicting who OKC/Boston/SA will draft rather than putting out players who you genuinely think will become the best ones
g@freewave3

@stfukhi Ngl there’s no point in participating in any discourse or argument with a player who will spend their entire career next to wemby.

@mikegrib8 ,despite being of probably lower overall basketball quality and talent than top intl leagues

@mikegrib8 nba also has a much wider range of talent than intl leagues, with teams molding offenses around their stars. in this sense ncaa is likely closest to nba, allowing for more seamless transitions as players have more exposure to these various styles of play

afaik draft twitter work on estimating "translatability" into nba has mostly focused on level of competition from ncaa, g league, eurocup etc. but imo stylistic similarity is also if not more important

nba offenses also more free flowing, even heliocentric ones force more rotations, so fast processing is more important. variety of styles doesn't limit individual skillsets, but bad decision makers are unplayable in nba

compared to cbb, nba offense has better spacing and better individual defenders. these work in opposite directions but dont affect all players equally. shooting and speed w/ ball are more impactful/important in nba version. physical dominance obv less likely to translate.

prospect from a good college team with a small to medium offensive role and efficient production is an archetype thats often outperformed their draft slot in recent years. obviously cant show full capabilities with low usage but maybe also says smth about portability in prospects

whereas less athletic good feel guys that struggle at first due to things like shooting variance or bad team situations end up getting picked up by smart teams or go abroad where they find orgs that are willing to trust them to figure it out

This means bad but athletic players like kuminga, Bagley, wiseman get second and third contracts, and similar archetypes get over drafted (but this seems to be improving),

Even in 2025 nba teams have so little understanding of how player development works, or confidence in predicting it, that they rely on bad but simple heuristics like athleticism (mostly twitchiness/pop) instead of trusting good players with nba skills and awareness/processing

In this case we will definitely be able to see how closely Brooklyn follows this sort of approach since the worst of the three prospects was the first to get drafted. Hopefully Brooklyn gives all three of these guys minutes or some g league time so we can better track this.

and aggressively update this distribution based on how the players perform, prioritizing those that show more potential early on and decaying the magnitude of updates as the season and their careers progress.

Brooklyn drafted three ball dominant lead guard prospects. You can’t really put two of them on the court together and have poor shooters at both guard spots. A reasonable developmental strategy would be to initially distribute developmental attention proportional to draft slot…
