Amau Ako is executive officer of the Prefect Team, and Hina's right hand woman. Ako has a mountain of responsibilities to handle, to the point of constantly doing all-nighters handling the administrative overload that comes with keeping Gehenna from imploding, and a "dignified" image to maintain at all times, so that when people see her, they should think: "Exactly what you'd expect from the Prefect Team's secretary, Amau Ako." She's the textbook example of a perfect high achiever who's quietly unraveling under the weight of her own impossibly high standards. For her, the Prefect Team secretary role isn't just a job, it's an important part of her identity. Just think about it. Hina carries even more responsibilities than Ako, yet has she ever shown any vulnerability in front of others or the rest of the team? No, she hasn't, right? Unlike Iori and Chinatsu, who tend to be much more open and transparent about these things. Within the Prefect Team, Hina and Ako are the only exceptions. From her own perspective (and that of her colleagues) their leader never shows any sign of faltering. So why wouldn't she, as Hina's right-hand, do the same? It's only natural that she would follow suit and lead by example as well. She has to be flawless, dignified, and in complete control at all times, because she refuses to show cracks to her colleagues or let it affect the Prefect Team's reputation. It's a running joke in the game that the students blame everything on Sensei whenever something goes wrong. After all, he's the only adult among a bunch of students, and as their Sensei, he's supposed to set an example and guide them. Ako does the same thing, not to dodge responsibility, but because she's overwhelmed with work and needs someone to vent to. When things inevitably go wrong (as they always do in Kivotos, especially in a chaotic school like Gehenna), blaming Sensei becomes her pressure-release valve. "I do everything perfectly all the time... this must be Sensei's fault!" That kind of mindset. I mean, there's literally an episode of her relationship story called "Whatever, It's Sensei's Fault!" It doesn't make sense, and it's irrational. But that's exactly the point, she needs an external target to throw all that pent-up stress so she doesn't have to admit she’s overwhelmed, because in her mind she is "The exemplary secretary Amau Ako." It's oddly endearing because it reveals just how exhausted she really is. Only with Sensei can she drop the "Prefect Team secretary" persona and just complain. No judgment, no political consequences, no need to keep up appearances. Sensei is the only person with whom she can allow herself to openly complain about how stressful her life and work are. She doesn't have to worry about maintaining her image around him, nor does she fear being judged for her true personality. The collar around her neck, the cowbell, and the broken chain on her left wrist are not so subtle symbols that reveal us a few key things about her: - Being leashed to duty and expectations. - A subconscious craving to surrender control. - The constant tension between "I must hold everything together" and "I wish someone would just take the reins for once." Sensei acts as her reliable presence to avoid her from breaking apart. The complaints are her way of reaching out for that support while still protecting her pride. It's a classic tsundere armor around very real vulnerability and overwork. Sensei fills that exact void without her having to fully shatter, because underneath... she's only a girl who can't allow herself of cracking in front of the people who rely on her, and everyone's expectations (especially Hina's). It's a very tender kind of dependence Ako has with Sensei, wrapped in the most stubborn tsundere complaints imaginable. She gets to be petty, whiny, and human only with Sensei. @epic_ois I'm tired of repeating myself, go read my other replies or my own quote tweet. I literally said I'd prefer a Red Winter Vol, and Mika wouldn't appear there I don't even like Azusa THAT much, it's just stupid that she did nothing of value in the volume about the school she's from.

I never thought I would do this even for an event, let alone a story Volume, but I just skipped the rest of Vol6. I'm not even saying this cause I love Mika, but her (and Azusa) not having any important scenes is literally dogshit writing and I will not be reading it.
