@LukeCB14 They wanted the city to be alive with NPCs everywhere instead of floating ghosts essentially. And the reason why. Is bc of last gen... A lot of decisions on some of the expansions came down to last gen and so Bungie had to change plans on how to handle things differently 🙃

@NuCaloric Yeah when Bungie was talking about the future of Destiny. It felt like the next Destiny won't be made by Bungie but outsourced to other game studios

I really think I'd rather a reboot over a prequel/sequel if a D3 somehow happens. So much of Destiny's setting relied on the Darkness being this constant unknown in the background, and actually confronting it kinda killed the world imho Fan film by Kennon Fleisher :)

@NuCaloric You'd think but the fans of Star Wars Battlefront is waiting for a 3rd game even when we return every year with May 4th and it gets insane numbers and even broke the concurrent player number. We still don't got shit 😭

One thing I didnt get is he left Bungie in 2022 bc he wanted more professional challenges and then returned in a solid two fucking years... Bro why even return when he left... But he did say "professional challenges". He left riot after just 6 months... So does that mean the challenge was that Destiny 2 was dying and prolly couldnt be saved so he returned cuz it was hard? HMMMM. (I have no idea where Im going with this tbh) 😂

I'm about halfway through reading the comments. Such moving stories and incredible memories. Makes me so happy seeing so many people reminisce so fondly on their experiences in Destiny.

Back during Destiny 1 I played on and off. I knew about the game when my dad told me that Bungie was making a new game as I was super into Halo at the time. So when Destiny came out I played it for a bit. And I always came back each expansion. Sadly toward the end of the game right around Rise of Iron the game reunited the relationship between my side of the family and my mom's. Cuz we had fallen out and stopped talking. My uncle's and cousins played Destiny 1 a good bit and I happened to see my uncle playing it and he messaged me thinking I was my dad since I was using his account for Xbox back then. And I said it was me and I join the raid with the rest of my family. We hadn't talked in years. I was in middle school. That point on it felt like the best euphoric experience I've ever felt in life. It was some of the most fun Ive ever had. I enjoyed doing raids and strikes with them. I loved doing the forge and trying to get us all together on a patrol since it was limited to 3 people. The amount of memories we had. When Destiny 2 came out I was in 9th grade of high school. I attended the midnight launch at Gamestop. I was excited and I could not wait to play it when I got home from school. The rest of my family were super excited too. I remember doing the first mission and the feelings I had at the time. Even tho base D2 and curse was bad based on a lot of ppl. I still enjoyed it and had a lot of fun and grinded like crazy. After a while tho my family just started playing less and less and they just grew out of it. Ig Destiny 1 had that special magic that made us want to play it and with Destiny 2 as the years went by it just stopped feeling as special. But I still managed to find the enjoyment in it. I still had so much fun with the raids that came out and the first pantheon. Staying up all night to beat a raid and doing a 48 hour marathon with no sleep. I remember we were all bad at Destiny 2 at the start and on average it took like 12 hours to beat a raid lol. This is my story of Destiny. The one thing I regret is not playing tenfold as much on Destiny 1 than I did.. seeing it all coming down. Seeing the Bungie I loved from Halo to Destiny potentially even shutting down and having almost no one at the studio.. it makes me sad to the state of crying. Even tho I knew D2 was gonna stop receiving updates for months now I was expecting D3 to at least be in the making... Now I feel worried as ever... I will miss these good times and the experiences that Bungie provided over the years 😢

Well technically yes and no. They have a triumphs thingy but the event is called Solstice. I don't think Destiny 2 ever had an event called Moments of Triumph. So it must have been weird if the devs were told to work on an event called Moments of Triumph when the last event of Destiny 1 was Age of Triumph. You'd think they put two and two together and just know that would be the last update 😭

@EpicCargo @DestinyBulletn @PaulTassi Moments of triumphs is a yearly thing. It was being made as part of the schedule. All the extra stuff being slammed in is just taking what was done and trying to fit it before it’s too late.

I wonder if he even was the main problem. Nothing changed after he stepped down. It could honestly be the devs faults too. They aren't entirely blameless. I refuse to believe the CEO was micromanaging and controlling every aspect of the company and game everyday. No fucking CEO does that. You do not hear this from any fucking studio out there. Not even EA, Ubisoft or even Activision.

Yeah like at the very most Marathon gets under 30,000 and that's like the max all consoles highest possible number. Is that even sustainable? Marathon costed $230 million. They prolly didn't even earn enough money yet. And most people play on PC too... They used the delay of D2 and moved everyone over to Marathon pretty much to finish it and siphoned resources away. Also what happened with shadow and order? I feel like it would also mostly be finished... I'm surprised we aren't even getting that. At the end of D1 we at least got an expansion with the moments of triumph QoL update bundled with it pretty much too

Once this D2 shit is said and done I really don't know how it's going to be possible to not be terrified as a Marathon fan either. I hate to come off as a SteamDB Fanatic™ but I can't see that game sustaining itself with ~5-10k people. Feels like it was made w/ D2 money in mind

Looks like a Xivu Arath expansion got pitched multiple times. Man, I really hope we get a Destiny 3 with Xivu, would feel awful for a character built up so much to just never get their story told.

It's wild how crazy gbeeational Destiny was. It feels way too important to just die like this. And now I just feel sad bc we might not get a D3 and Bungie will just shut down as a studio possibly with what Bloomberg saying 😭. Cuz Marathon is doing worse than Destiny 2 so no way they keep supporting that too. Also they really should do a Destiny remastered with D2 QoL and port it to PC. And then even maybe add some new things. Nothing too crazy while they work on a D3. But I'm just hoping Bloomberg is wrong entirely and lying or something 😭

Destiny was a world man. Like yeah Marathon is good but it'll never have moments where you can just go "yeah I know a spot" and then virtually hang out with your friends in some cool little area while listening to music or something. Maybe I'm larping too hard here but truly idc
