7th period with @hannahcorleyy walked into a plane crash and had to establish rules and priorities. Their first rule? Only the person holding the “talking pumpkin” can speak. Can’t wait for them to start reading Lord of the Flies and see themselves in its characters!

A5: Allowing kids to tell me what they learned. As much as I love data, it doesn’t give us the whole picture. Their knowledge expands far beyond an essay score, so giving them an opportunity to tell me opens my eyes to see what I had maybe missed. #CISDLearns

Q3. This is a year to not focus on what was missed, or what they didn't master. They have learned so many life skills, so many emotional tools, so many self-directional motivations. We can't measure this, but it is important. #CISDLearns

Utilizing our many timed writings as an opportunity to show growth over the course of the 9 weeks instead of taking a grade on each individual essay has freed up kids to focus on their progress and skills rather than stress over a “test.” (Thanks @TracyHenson !) #CISDLearns

A1: This year, in particular, I have really been considering equity across learning modalities when planning/designing assessments. #CISDLearns

@ICeeDLee One of my learners from last year reached out to me asking if I would sponsor her club this year. It may look a little different than previous years, but I’m excited to partner with her for a great cause! #CHSRelentless

WFH means this girl has already attended a Pages webinar and learned more about AMP today. Grateful for my job and the ability to spend the days with her. (Also, she’s a big fan of pink Wednesday)! #cisdtogetherathome

2 takeaways: Sentence stems help build academic language, and incorporating visuals dramatically increases the ability to understand lessons and participate in discussions. #cisdeslbil
