@epicpenapp I am facing this issue in OBS, especially in Zoom mode. I am using the Zoom to Mouse plugin. In display capture, the screen annotation (red rectangle) becomes 2. One zooms in on the scene, and the second one remains at the place it was drawn. (1/2)

@jeshwanth_ss We’re aware of issues with our Mac build and currently working on a fix! Core functionality should still remain but customisation options found on the Windows version are unavailable for now.

@epicpenapp your windows app was so good. and i just shifted to a mac and what on earth bugs are on the mac version of the app. FIX THAT DAMN BUGS ASAP!

@epicpenapp Yes, curved arrows. Maybe done by drawing a regular line/arrow then dragging on it to create the curve? An arrow head would have to rotate to match though. I like the pressure sensitive pen tool btw 👍

Had a conversation with @aereio_ about copyright and trademarks. Something I know a fair bit about! But not from my experience as an artist, but because the Turkish government stole $5mill of software from me and my then business partner Brian. Rae said this is something worth sharing so here we go! An abridged version: In 2016 I had a hand injury that meant I couldn’t do art too well. I had been working with a friend on his small app @epicpenapp. Back then it was open source and he had been asking me to help with a reskin for a while as I had a fair bit of UI/UX experience at this point. We did a complete overhaul, redesigned it, rebranded it and prepared it as a commercial product. It had paid business and education licenses but had no activation yet. We were broke and trying to monetise it for a very fair $5 per install (perpetual). We saw some exciting companies adopt the app like Nintendo, Weta and Tesla. We were still trying to figure out the whole tech startup thing when we started seeing money come in. Exciting! After a few months we saw a massive upsurge in installs in Turkey. In schools. But nobody had ever bought licenses? After a few months we had analytics on the tens of thousands of schools using it. Epic pen was pre installed on the governments win7 installer. Available from their website. We had videos of their prime minister promoting the fatih project (their education project focused on tech). With epic pen at the center of it. There was countless videos and photos of schools using it, we even had a video of the minister of education using epic pen in a school. How do you engage with a government about this stuff as a tiny Scottish tech startup? Well tens of thousands of £££ on lawyers and months of back and forth about licensing, copyright law and trademarking. I learned a lot but it was exhausting, I get why protecting your IP is so important now. If you don’t, people will just take what’s yours. Like what’s happening with AI. There’s a lot more details I left out here but when given the choice to continue pursuing this in court for a few years or giving up. I gave up. Epic Pen was making good money and this felt like a big negative cloud hanging over our successes. I remained CEO of the company for 5 years but returned to games during that for a couple of years and then after covid started to make hires. I sold my share of the company to focus on Wardog. Governments, corporations, even some people all think they’re untouchable. And maybe some are as they build the game we have to play in. But I wish I’d fought that one harder on principle. We should at least have gone public with it.
